I've tried everything and still cannot complete it. Shouldn't the smooth apology work? I've attempted the interaction several times. It's too late for me to do SimGuruSemdi's suggestion but will remember it for the future. My Sims despise each other now so even if I do accomplish it I doubt I'd be able to complete the next part of the aspiration anyway.
