Spellcaster child.

I don't know all the details, but EA did provide a way that children of spellcasters will have a special, I think it is a trait, that gives them a boost in their magical skills. There are at least two different types, one for second-generation mages, and the generations after that have another. I forget the exact terms that are used.

Sounds like a bug to me. I've never had a born spellcaster age up to anything above rank 1 (Apprentice), even if they were born with the Ancient Bloodline.
