I read that wrong at first. The line reminded me of one Ebenezer Scrooge uses when turning down a charity: "Are there not Work Houses?", or words to that effect

LOL, glad I could 'help'. Sadly, I had a few ancestors that ended up in Work houses. She was an unwed mother, 'wrong side of the blanket', as it was said, back then. He's my third great-grandfather, but managed to do okay in the long run, despite being raised in said work house. Yikes. Makes me understand the story of Scrooge so much more clearly in the end.
