- I don't really ever play with toddlers or kids, so I don't care about that.
- I mean it would have been cute but I don't really remember there ever being much to do with occults until they are teen so
- I'm a little disappointed, but not too much. It follows the current trend. Kids can't be full-fledged vampires or plant Sims, and (I think?) the only way you can get a ghost kid is the wishing well. There's alien kids, but I don't think they get all their powers until they're older? Or am I remembering wrong?
Anyway, coming into magic in the teenage years is a pretty common trope. Doesn't bother me much. And I'm sure there will be plenty of ocean-y outfits for our pre-merfolk toddlers while they're growing up. - elliebreton7 years agoLegend

I can't really use any of these poll options. I never expected kids and toddlers to have a mermaid state based both on Vampires and TS3 Mermaids. If they did then awesome but it was never going to bother me.
I play kids and toddlers a lot though so the last option doesn't apply.
Ditto. - PalmArrow7 years agoSeasoned AceMy answer would be "A little bit, but I'm buying it anyway". (When I play with supernaturals, I prefer playing a regular human sim who meets supernatural townies, than playing a supernatural myself, so this will not affect my gameplay much. I preordered the pack because of the dolphins, the volcano, the ability to jump directly into the sea from a deck, and maybe most of all the scenery.)
- EmmaVane7 years agoSeasoned AceDon't really care. I'm sure someone (maybe MermanSimmer) will make ones that can be applied as swimwear if I really want a fishy baby picture.
- JeanVW7 years agoSeasoned AceI honestly don't mind... would have been nice-ish to have some distinctive features, but I feel I wouldn't miss it.

I don't usually need everything to be kid-friendly and toddler-inclusive, and some of the mermaid powers like seducing other sims obviously shouldn't be available to the little ones, but since children can swim in the open water, I don't see a problem with them having some nice fins to go with it. It's a pointless limitation, I'm not a game designer, but it certainly couldn't have been that difficult to shrink the adult mermaid tails to an appropriate size for children. Toddlers are a different story, but children at least should really have been mermaidable. - Honestly I don’t see the point of toddlers showing mermaid powers or being able to use them they can barley walk. It would make no sense to me if they could be a full fledged mermaid but you still needed to teach them the basics.
Not to mention toddlers are only toddlers for a short amount of time. I barley have time to teach them the basics of life before they age up. Children, well they spend half there time in school and then homework and grades. Even if they had powers in the mermaid state they will have no time to go use them.
As for showing a fin, tail or scale as kids and toddlers. I think what there trying to do is make it so mermaids try to blend in with everyday life, they don’t want people to know there mermaids. It would be weird if you hire a nanny for your toddler and she’s like changing his diapers and sees a fin and then be like “oh ok seems normal” than later when the child grows up is like ask the sim “are you a mermaid?” - floridameerkat7 years agoSeasoned AceI'm disappointed that, as usual, toddlers and children are left out. Toddlers I guess I can understand. Even though it seems they've made toddlers slightly older this time around, they're still too young to really do anything on their own. However, as a mermaid, I would think even as a toddler they'd be adept at swimming. But maybe they just couldn't animate it. Who knows.
Children, on the other hand, I see no reasons as to why they aren't ever included in occult gameplay. Aside from werewolves in TS3 and aliens, occult children are essentially normal sims. But as far as mermaids go, child aged sims can already swim and interact with the water, as we've seen in the game changer footage, so why can't they grow a tail? Why can't they use some of the tamer mersim powers? Like singing or calling dolphins? (I'm assuming these abilities are not available to child mersims, but maybe we'll get lucky and they will be. So far, all we seem to know for sure is that they don't get their tail until they become a teen, so I imagine that also unlocks their mersim powers.)
Despite all this, I still plan to buy the pack and have already preordered it. I can't wait until the 21st so that I can finally start playing it!
