that's very weird. i saw another infected sim in a video was also in deep red with the mother plant when they first talked to her. trying to figure out if mine was a glitch or if my infected sim did more stuff with the plants than others did. she did do a lot of nurturing as soon as that was available (basically every plant in both the science lab lot and shady acres and maybe half of those in the town proper) but i didn't think that'd have such a big impact on that, if any at all
I can confirm this after reading this discussion and testing with my own infected sim that NEVER taunted the plants, only nurtured and he was full red bar when he first met the mother. I can say that he was able to build a full green bar very quickly while possessed, much faster than the non-infected sim that also stated full red/never taunted plants.

Now he is hiding his possession and trips to communicate with the mother from his girlfriend (non-infected) who is in the military covert branch and is actively trying to solve the mystery. He has been using the mothers "gifts" to gain career success and money for their family. He does not want the mother to be defeated and he knows that the time is coming when his girlfriend will ask for his help in defeating the mother and the secret source of their family money and success will be gone.
