Same. I did buy Spooky Day but beyond around Halloween time in in real life I just never use the stuff in it unless I'm playing a vampire family. It just isn't the same without the fall leaves and other things in game. Same with the Christmas tree and whatever winter decor they've made. I use it around that time in IRL but otherwise once the holiday is gone it'll be gone from my game. Now, with Seasons finally coming, I can extend my seasons out and actually get more use of it. And if they throw in a few objects for decor that people who didn't want to buy Spooky Day can now have, I honestly do not care.
I'm all for making your voice heard if you're dissatisfied with a product/service. I don't believe in blindly handing over your money. If you've purchased something and it's lacking something that's a deal breaker for you, I think people should voice it and be heard. But I also believe in picking your battles. We could just not have gotten seasons at all. Or we could have just gotten the weather effects in a free patch with no other content because they couldn't afford to do it all at once/didn't have resources for the patch. Or we could have gotten the seasons broken out into 4 game packs which would have cost more. I'm not at all saying you should just settle if you're unhappy - everyone plays differently and everyone is entitled to their opinion over what makes a game worth the money. But I just, personally, will never understand the bickering and tearing each other apart over a game. Nobody will ever be 100% happy - it'd be impossible for that to ever happen. Pick what is most important - if other players getting a few pieces of decor for free is a bigger deal to someone than the seasons as a whole, then I guess that's their deal but it certainly isn't mine and they don't speak for all of us just like I don't speak for them. Guess that's just my two cents though.
Yeah, but apparently having a different opinion either makes you negative or a EA sheep (not a true fan). There's no inbetween if you like the game and just a fan. :p
Pretty much there was no relevance to buying Spooky day other than the novelty and wanting to have halloween in your game when October rolled around for us. Bought it last year on sale and maybe use 3 items out of it. Pft. I didn't buy it before because I know i wouldn't use it like at all, but of course it compliments seasons nicely, which I feel isn't a loss since you're still getting use out of the entire pack so I feel anyone being burned over the supposed 3 to 4 items and getting petty is over the top. I have spooky stuff and I was pretty 'oh hey they let others have a little more decor in the pack' I mean you're some might not want to buy it still.
The arguments really in the fandom just isn't worth the headache.
If I’m being completely honest, even WITH seasons I just don’t see myself using half of the items from that pack!! In real life I don’t change the wallpaper and flooring in my house or swap out the furniture for every holiday. The preset living room that comes with Spooky Day just never gets used! I used the furniture in, again, a rundown old creepy vampire house but not in my regular/everyday sims houses. If I wanna throw a really epic spooky day party sometime I MIGHT put in the effort and go all out and decorate to the nines. But much of that pack is still gonna sit unused for me. Now obviously there are plenty who are exactly the opposite and do/will use those items frequently. That’s awesome and I look forward to seeing your spooked out houses. But as a person who bought the pack for a few gameplay objects, the costumes and just to complete my collection, I’m not gonna lose sleep over them retexturing some items and including them in this pack.
To touch even further on that, they honestly could include the entire contents of the pack in the game and I likely wouldn’t notice or care. I agree that that would be kind of a lame thing to do, but again I won’t lose sleep over it. It wouldn’t be fair to those who bought SD separately way before but there are also bigger problems in the world. Again, that’s just my two cents though. I could understand more why that would bother people than a few decor objects would.
