Some of my houses I've built have a 2nd staircase in the kitchen. I like the old homes and many of them had the staircase for use by the servants. I do recall about three steps up once you opened the door from the kitchen which put you on the landing near the base of the rest of the stairs going upward. Way cool. Unfortunately, my grand aunt and uncle never had any children. He passed away right before I graduated High School. She passed away when I was pregnant with my what would have been my third child. (I lost it.) The Estate went to her nephew, unfortunately, and he sold the place to a contractor who wanted to make more apartments in that lot. Face/palm. The house had already been divided into two apartments (second floor) and a Bachelor pad on the third floor! I'm so angry that house has been torn down. My eldest son took his first steps in the formal livingroom!
