Still Cannot Download Sims 4 On EA App Again On Mac Due To A lot Of GB Required

Hello everyone,

I was wondering does any Mac users have any tips on how to download the Sims 4 app again. I cleared out the storage, old and hidden documents, Mac trash bin, and caches on my Mac and the EA app constantly and it's still asking for 19-now 38.20 GB. I have 34.85 GB available. The GB keeps going higher and lower every 2 seconds. I don't have any hard drive to transfer the game space onto it, because I play the Sims 4 on my Mac only so far. This never usually happened the last four years playing the Sims 4 on my Mac that I still have to this day. I updated my Mac - like I always do - I updated it earlier this week, from what I remember. Also, I bought the Sims 4 Discovery University for the first time at the end of last month on the same day before I realized it was an update after I paused the game to do something, and that surprised me. I deleted the Sims 4 folder so I can leave more storage on my Mac (I sometimes do this but not a lot, I usually delete stuff on my Mac and leave the folder in the documents section on Finder), and this never happens. So I don't know the update last month for the Sims 4 or the EA App overall caused the GB to go higher? I don't know what to do, I've been trying to fix this issue since last Thursday. I think after I bought the Discovery University pack the GB went higher. I didn't think about that, so maybe thats why it's higher GB needed now. I only have 13 add ons so far for the Sims 4. This is so frustrating lol.

  • I would try to make more space on the Mac. 35GB is not much space left at all.

If you go to System Settings on your computer, then scroll down to Storage and click Storage Settings, you can see a breakdown of what is taking up space. It will give you a list of categories, and if you click the little i will give you a further breakdown within that category.

The documents breakdown can be particularly helpful as you can see your largest files and how much is in your downloads folder, plus applications that are no longer supported.

Probably the biggest space user for me right now is iOS backups - I do sometimes go through and delete older ones, or backups for devices I don’t use anymore. My Sims content is definitely taking a large chunk of space as well, followed by iMovie which I don’t even use, and then Steam and the various games I have there. Then various coding & editing programs.

A previous space hog I’ve had was years of photos and music. To help free up that space, I pay for a cloud storage service where my photos now live, and I spent several days a couple years ago going through old audio files and removing duplicates & corrupted files. I also put some I don’t listen to much anymore on that same cloud storage.

    Good luck!

  • There's nothing you can really do about this other than - free up more space - try looking at everything else that's on your Mac and seeing what else you don't care about you can delete. Is that trash can empty or are there deleted files in there you can get rid of?

I have every pack for The Sims 4 and it takes up 78 GB on my hard drive. The more packs you add, the more it will need.

Hello, thanks for responding, I appreciate it. The trash can is empty. I want to keep videos and a few photos, but it still seems like it's still asking for a lot of GB even when I keep deleting it. I will keep digging for more, besides delete more videos and photos. Thank you.

Hello, thanks for responding, I appreciate it. It looks like the system data is mostly taking the space, and it still shows more GB than other apps etc. I did look on Youtube on how to clear out the system data, but it still is a lot.  I want to keep videos and a few photos, but it still seems like it's still asking for a lot of GB even when I keep deleting it. I will keep digging for more, besides delete more videos and photos. Thank you.

Okay, I was able to download the Sims 4 again finally. Omg I'm so happy! So I went to Google again for help to clear my system data again, I asked/stated to Google (the question was from earlier or yesterday in the google search before the GB went to 34 today , so I added "how to clear system data") : "i still cant download 23.21 gb on the EA app on mac after clearing most of the storage for the sims 4, how to clear system data", and one of the answers was - In Finder, go to the top menu, choose Go then Go To Folder and type: ~/Library/Application Support. " Instead of me deleting the EA or Origin folders only, I deleted all of the folders including the EA and/or Origin folder all together in that Application Support location section,  and it added more space according to the Storage section in the System Settings to allow me to download the Sims 4 again. So far it's installing, which is good. Thanks for your assistance! Have a good weekend :)
