Still Undecided . . .

Okay, I just read there's a few new games for the kids to play, which includes the time-honored Hide and Seek, Rock, Paper, Scissors and one more that left my head just as soon as I read it. LOL It's wonderful getting older . . .This may have just been the reason I needed to flip me into the yes category. While my Sim family still has wee ones (the eldest of six are just now teens, leaving four yet to go) I may actually have time to enjoy this part of AA.

I'm still a tad squishy on it, though. I have absolutely no ambition to run a venue, as I have found that takes up just about every bit of gameplay in a session. I consider it grinding. Me, no likey the grinding Just sayin'. I do know for some that's the whole banana. I think that's why I've been on the fence about this EP.  How much of the EP will I be utilizing? And how much of my computer space will it take up? I suppose I could ask hubby to see if I can add space . . .

Please HELP. It releases tomorrow. I'm smack up against the deadline.

  • It released just a moment ago, but if you’re wondering how much of the pack you’ll actually be using, maybe you shouldn’t get it asap and just wait after you get more details from others. I’ve personally bought packs for just CAS/BB items and down the line used other features. You’re also not forced to run a service, that stuff is optional

    Today, out now 😊

Edit, as simgirl1010 said, of course no deadline.

  • I'll get it., although I'll probably not host a lot of runaways. What I like about them is that I can send my active sim to learn a few skills, and while doing it I'll invite a few non played sims to join so their skills go up as well. I play many families on rotation, and so often I see gown ups I did not play enough actively to build even te most basic skills. Whether I add a contest element to the runaway I don't know, will probably try it at least once :) Another thing I like is that venues can be adjusted before throwing the runaway, so a basic build with sleeping/eating features can get a variety of equipment for skills and fun over time. Mabe just one venue is enough, if all the basics work, but then there might be a point in varying climate zones and seasons, too, so I'll spread those venues a bit geographically.

I look most forward to archery, entymology, playgrounds and the new pool stuff incl. diving. I'll enjoy those outside venues, for sure :) Maybe the new career will be fine, too, with a different working schedule.

  • From your posts over the years, I suspect there's quite bit of functionality you could get out of this pack, as it's very customizable. I'm still trying to understand all the nuances, but it seems like you can use the custom venues either in conjunction with each other, or as separate features, in both cases without having to actively run a venue yourself.

For example, you could perhaps set up a music festival getaway or musician's retreat where your main sim protagonist attends (without actively running it), and he could spend his time performing or practicing, or socializing with fans or other musicians. Or you could send the kids to the premade camp, or have your couples go to the premade B&B for a romantic weekend.

  • I waited like four (or more) months to get Lovestruck because I didn't want the gameplay (and I still wish there was a toggle for Romantic Satisfaction...) so I didn't pick it up until it was on 50% off sale.

With Adventure Awaits, I don't actually plan on having my main sims actually run anything.  What I do plan to do is to set up various custom venues for my sims to eventually visit - bed and breakfasts and faux hotels in assorted vacation worlds, some "All Ages" nightclubs (so my teens can go to a Nightclub and not be the only ones that age there) and maybe other variations on basic lots, such as a science museum, or a Pizzaria Bowling alley, or a Water Park.  I'll probably set up a couple of non-standard getaways too (I'm thinking an Archeologist's camp in Selvadorada, a Writer's Retreat on the Hound's Head in Brindleton Bay, and maybe a Scout Camp in Granite Falls) depending on what I can do with the pack.

But about the only "getaway" I ever plan to have my sims in charge of might be calling all the grandkids over.

Yeah, after I wrote that I quickly found out yesterday's date. I'm usually on top of things like that, but I've not really been myself as of late, you may have noticed. I went ahead and took the plunge. It's installed and almost immediately Harmony was organizing her siblings and cousins for a round of Hide and Seek. Sadly, I was busy with two other Sims and didn't get to witness their game. Oh, well. Plenty of time later for that.

Thanks. I'm just one of those people, I don't like to wait around, most likely to my detriment. But I did take the plunge, as I stated above. It's purchased and installed. The thing that was slightly unsettling, though, was the game required an update. Say, what? Shrugging I went ahead after backing up my saves and Mods folders. Always, always, always. I did pull a Last Exception during yesterday's gameplay, which surprised me. I had thought I was done with those. Ahem. But we'll see how it goes. I just didn't wish to be pulled backward in time, yet again. It's been a bit of a nightmare, as I have shared with everyone.
