Stop interrupting my kids

it's not just kids that are constantly forced into conversations, my sims keep getting forced into conversations as well. it's most notable if you travel to a library and your sim is the only one there besides the librarian. every few minutes that sim will do something and then come and chet, you stop the chat, they go off and a few minutes later and they return to chat. this keep going on and on until the librarian leaves or more sims arrive.

you have no idea how annoying it is having sims annoying your sims to start an idle chat.

on the matter of forced chatting, i wish unfamous sims stop trying to force themselves from chatting to my famous sims. if i can't do it the other way around, why should they do it to my sims? they shouldn't be allowed to unless my sim chats with them first.

Yes I've had NPC's do it too with my Sims but it's even more irritating when I'm telling my adult Sim to do something and they stop and go chat with the ids who are doing their homework. There are plenty of mods to stop the NPC interruptions but not ones for playable Sims, that I can find.

Queuing actions doesn't always work. i've seen in some instances for no reason at all the queued actions just disappear and i have to put them back in place. This game does have a tendency to always say "yes" when you mean "no". it's like this game has a major malfunction built into it at times.

When does No mean yes? and when should no mean no? after the next 6 trillionth time before the software recognises i don't want that action taken?
Just some venting over such a convoluted design.

My kids are usually pretty good at holding onto tasks I assign. If an adult looks like they are going to interrupt, I have them assist if possible (school projects, homework) instead, and if not re-route them to some other useful activity like fixing a meal.

But I agree, having to be in helicopter mode to intercept can be frustrating.

They stop what they are doing and drop their queue to do it

I just searched Sim Ray and I can't see how that would help with the chat, I will keep looking into it though

They would need to be in two separate rooms then because they talk to each other. I currently have them doing it at the kitchen table

I usually keep my sims busy so I haven’t really noticed this much or maybe it’s just one of the few things in this game that doesn’t bother me, I do love it when my sims socialise with each other. Mind you anything is preferred over them just standing around doing nothing, I hate that.

This is one of the things that doesn't bother me. I love when my sims socialize sith eacother while sims woek on other things sure it takes them longer, but it's nice. I often don't see my sims cancelling out my actions.

Parents are the worst. Kids can't get anything done without a parent wanting to chat or hug. I think that's why so many of my teens move out and become "runaway teens". What is it about a Sim busy doing something that attracts one or both parents to suddenly need to chat with or hug their offspring? My personal experience has been that moms are the worst offenders. And they're always eating.

I had a Sim go on a date last night with a romantic interest who wanted to meet at a pub. Her potential sweetie is a Vampire with the Loner trait. First I checked the time because it used to be that a call from a Vampire before 7:00 PM was a bad omen. He called shortly after 7:00 PM. So far, so good. He picked a pub that I knew had a single table way at the back where they could chat alone. Although the table wasn't near the bar, five "bar regulars" felt the need to go back and join their conversation anyway. I wonder why the game generates new adult and elder townies to populate a bar when I already have over 200 townies in my game? I also wonder what it is about two Sims having a conversation that attracts every random townie to join in? The date was one of those that didn't have goals so it was iffy, to begin with. But, the Vampire didn't leave immediately so that was a good sign. They were able to chat and get some flirting in so it went pretty well. His parting note was that he had a reasonably good time and that he'd all again, maybe. He better.

Have you tried the MCCC Cheat? Click on the offending Sim, and then click on MCCC and select MC Cheat. The top item is Make Sim Leave. Then click OK. Works like a charm.

I have a celebrity Sim so the family keeps their gates locked, but when they throw a party or Event, it's incumbent on them to unlock a gate. There was a mod I tried ages ago that would allow the gate to be unlocked for a certain Sim, but that meant that the player had to keep an eye out for the guests to arrive in order to 'let them in'. It was more of a pain. Now, I just unlock the gate. But sometimes an Obsessed Fan or his Stan will merrily slip through that unlocked gate, so I use the MCCC cheat on them to make them leave. I normally lock the gate behind them. Once the gathering is over, I hit pause and then go unlock the gate so the guests may leave again. It's crazy-insane. I do wish there was a way to simply 'buzz them in' like a REAL security gate. Oh, well.
