Story Progression, Neighborhood Stories

Dear Maxis,
I want to thank you for the innovation of the new Story Progression features. I have not tested these out yet, however, from reading the patch notes and announcements today, I'm liking what I read about how this should all work. There seems to be more choices with this type of story progression than there was with TS3's original SP. For that, thanks! I was never a fan of any type of story progression other than what happens out on community lots like back in TS1 and TS2. But with this new system, it seems you have taken all that into consideration from players like me who are overly protective of our 'worlds/hoods'..thank you.

I plan to try this out and see if I like story progression any better than I did before....I think I would enjoy checking the mailbox to see what's new. That's a big deal to me, going to the mailbox to see what's new. Thank you for the new type of SP innovation system, an update I think I might actually enjoy. >:) :# p.s. Let the accidents begin! :dizzy:
  • @Cinebar we have a thread in General Discussion if you have any questions.

  • I'm impressed with the new system too, because the level of fine control is really welcome, exactly what should please both simulation players and storytellers alike.

But would you please consider giving us an option to also disable the phone calls that came with the first wave of the neighborhood stories? Could you please make it so that sims from households marked as played can NEVER send such phone calls to my active household? I don't care if a townie from the unplayed bin calls my sims asking for advice, that's perfectly okay. Just not my own sims, please!

I don't know how to better explain just how much those phone calls from my own sims rub me the wrong way, but I've seen similar sentiments expressed on the forums.

My thoughts exactly. My played sims (and in fact even unplayed ones that are directly connected story-wise to played ones) have their own societal rules, and those kinds of phone calls would disrespect them in the majority of cases. That would make it seem as if my little people suddenly and rudely forgot their cultures' manners or other customs/traditions. Muting their phones wouldn't work, because I've long used a scoring system I made up for many of the other kinds of calls they get, which feeds into building bits of story for a variety of purposes.

Even though I want to be able to play the way I played before (without being forced to rely on mods for it), I do genuinely applaud the scope of the customization for the new features. That part seems well done indeed!
