Stuck on Moving a Pet out of Household

I don't really know which category this would be in, so this is where it'll be.

So, my sim had a pet be put up for adoption. Its been about a whole sim week, and I'm still not able to enter Build and Buy mode or even Save my game. Is there any way to fix this without having to restart? By the way, this is in The Sims 4: Cats and Dogs.
