Sudden Sentiments

I don't think I've ever seen a sentiment pop up so quickly, definitely love ... or at least destined to become really good friends.

@Elliandre And, it so happens that the next game day happens to be Love Day. Perhaps that would be the perfect occasion to see what might be in store?

I've had a rare few instances of "sentiment at first sight" (first exchange of words, that is). Those particular instances may have been caused by a bug (I don't know), but in general I see various sentiments that seem too soon on a fairly regular basis.

I had this happen to one of my Sims who was using a treadmill at a gym. He developed the "Closer from Happy Memories" sentiment toward Naoki Ito from Mt. Komorabi and again with Duane Talla from Sulani.

The first time happened when my Sim was using a treadmill. Naoki got on the treadmill next to my Sim and immediately initiated a conversation. While they were chatting my Sim developed the "Closer from Happy Memories" sentiment toward Naoki. The same thing happened several days later when my Sim was at the same gym using a workout machine. This time it was Duane Talla who came up to him and started chatting. Several minutes later my Sim developed the "Closer from Happy Memories" sentiment toward Duane.

What struck me as odd about this sentiment popping up is that my Sim had never developed the same sentiment toward any of his friends while they were at the gym working out, just the two pre-made Sims that he had barely met.

@VeeDub I've had the one that mentions a Sim's llama jokes never getting old happen quickly before...but never almost instantaneously, and it was one-sided, rather than mutual.

@Monaveil There must be something about that gym that brings workout partners closer together... :D

@Elliandre We decided to have my Sim fully embrace (pun intended) the Love Day spirit. He lives in Newcrest, but his parents and younger siblings still live in the family house in Willow Creek. That's how he happened to be in the right place at the right time. It also meant he could go back to the WC without seeming creepy.

After he finished his shift as a lifeguard, he visited a bush near his house and picked a few roses, just in case. Then, he traveled to the Willow Creek gym for a workout...and there she was, chatting with a group of Sims they both know. He made his way over and joined the conversation. The other Sims drifted away, leaving the two of them alone beside the punching bags. In this less-than-stereotypically-romantic setting, he began to flirt with her a bit, and she responded in kind. He gave her the rose he'd picked for her (way to fulfill those holiday "goals!)

The evening ended with the two of them enjoying a fantastic first date at the park. <3

I’ve seen it pop up on introductions a few times. It makes no sense to me for it to be obtained so easily.

Awww that’s such a sweet first date story!! :heart: Now I really want to know more about these Sim’s lives, I am hooked on this story. You are a really good writer.

I seem to get that sentiment a lot when first meeting other sims. I just ignore it at this point as it seems meaningless.

I agree that it can come out of nowhere.

And yet, I've made more than a couple long term friends by just... connecting at a convention event. Sometimes, it works that way.
