Teen no longer enrolled in school

One of my sim's kids just aged into a teenageer, and when he did, he wasn't enrolled in school anymore, even though he was in grade school as a child. I was able to enroll him via the phone, but now he can't join the drama club or get a job without the game wanting to replace high school with whatever I choose. I do have MCCC set to allow teens to drop out of school, but I didn't think this automatically unenrolled them, and the rest of the teens and kids in his household are attending with no issues. I'm not sure what happened, and repairing the game didn't help.
