The game wont create teen-only households so it wont hurt your immersion at all. If anything this option allows those who want to play alternate stories out they can do that.
We shouldn't be accepting the restrictions on teens in a desperate scramble to differentiate them from adults. Instead we should be adding new features to them so they feel more like teens.
That is what differentiate them from adults though. The fact that they have limitation. Babies cant do what children do, children can't do what teens do, and teens can't do what adults do. Its one of the things that separate the stages from each other. <3
Although in Real Life you will see teens living on their own -- they're called "emancipated teens". It's usually a last resort situation, if there's a lot of abuse or neglect at home but no foster homes available for them, and if they prove they've got the maturity to live on their own. So at least the option is available for players who want to do that for a specific storyline. But if you don't want to do it, that's your choice.
