Tell me about Vacations

I don't own any of the vacation worlds, therefore my Sims cannot go on vacations. I'm considering buying a pack, though. In Sims 3, I went on World Adventures as often as I could because the quests were amazing, the change of scenery was amazing, and it was probably my favorite expansion.

So tell me about vacations in Sims 4. Are they great? What's your favorite? How often do you use the vacation feature? If you have more than one, what's your favorite/least favorite? If you played Sims 3, tell me how it compares.

  • I would not recommend Outdoor Retreat if you want vacation feel

cause it feels more like ''backyard additions'' to me
like i use the tent and i stargaze and i use some of the build buy
and the world well I suppose it could be cool for some other themes made with other packs cause its super simple
but as vacation? not feeling it. though where i live irl is rather similar so that probably makes it even more so

Jungle Adventures is somewhat better and feels more vacation
but gets kind of boring after couple trips too since the temples are way too simple and lack the tomb creeps
and outside of those its really just a new type of village with a bar and museum and :/ not much to do honestly
I mean i suppose there is relics and skeletons and then there is the archeology and some rumbasim and talking to locals that are not local but... :/

personally I just use these packs for different means really
(detailed explanation no one asked for)
    Spoiler
like for Selvadorada I built some temples of my own for the hill side
and for village I'm thinking of making the museum lot some sort of farm/creative hobbies lot instead
and maybe add like spa/lodging/restaurant type lot for where the bar is

for Granite Falls I'm sort of thinking of making some sort of ts1 magic town reborn
but I'm still hoping we get better build/buy and activities for that in future packs
    so It's still on hold

or possibly like medieval but i think I will do that in windenburg island instead
cause I was also reserving that one for random asian houses i build sometimes
but since we have snowy ep coming I can now do whatever with that island too and locate the asia theme there

    overall opinion:

as vacation and pack just on their own? pretty dull tbh.
but mixed with other packs like spa day or dine out or island living or whatever you can make the worlds rather fun too
cause the worlds themselves are pretty cool to build in and stuff just.. not very activity filled

+some of the activities in these packs you could just use in other worlds casually like i mentioned before
like my sims live in tents all the time and use campfires and dance rumbasim and whatever

but also talking of tents snowy escape has one now so (: OR has become even emptier oh well
really if you get OR now I would say it has to be at least 50% off
because I'm almost sure there is stuff packs with more content even

JA might be worth it even just for the pretty build/buy stuff but well that is personal opinion
  • I loved The Sims 3 World Adventures so, so much. It gave me the option of having a relaxing vacation or an adventure. I could buy a vacation home there and hunt for unique collectibles like glittery butterflies, or pick up a new skill, or buy items I couldn’t get back home. I was obsessed with getting and growing all the grapes and making all kinds of nectar combinations, so many I made an index card file system to keep track.

Jungle Adventure has the treasure-hunting feature that I occasionally enjoyed, and in Outdoor Retreat we can catch some bugs. But the similarities end there. What I do on vacation is bring as many portable objects as I can so my sims won’t be bored, since build/buy are disabled while you’re there. They play cards together, work on individual hobbies and sometimes bike around just so I can enjoy the scenery. I have a slight preference for JA because I like the tropical vibe and there are some dig sites that spawn along the road where you don’t have to get all geared up to “explore” and uncovering artifacts can be kinda fun.

We really need a pack that gives us recreational options that we can’t do at home, where we can also get pampered a bit. So I love what Snowy Escape has to offer and I think it will fill the void I’ve been feeling in regards to vacations. I’m sad that we can’t have hotels because I want to add one to Sulani (I fake vacations there but it’s ridiculous that that’s free) but I like the idea of owning a vacation home in SE even better because it gives my rich sims something to spend their money on, and they’ll have access to build & buy mode. I hope I’m not misunderstanding the second home ownership part.
  • As camping is going to be added possibly to snowy retreat, maybe go for jungle adventure as it’s a different experience,
  • I never use the worlds as I’m just not into vacationing. But they are gorgeous worlds, and the packs come with great items. Plus Outdoor Retreat includes the ability to stargaze, which I love,
