Yep!
Like with my new sim i just made.
-I just loaded up my template like a normal save.
-I evicted a sim in a starter home i needed.
-Then i created her like a normal new sim.
-Moved her in to her starter home
-Then clicked "save as" and saved it under a new name.
Ouila! New sim family in a new save. Everything there but my template remains untouched as long as i dont overwrite the file
