Terrain Tools!!!

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but I'm pretty sure there is a whole one-story room underneath the level that's on the hill. You can see it when he's first building the hill, but then he leveled the terrain to cover it completely. So I don't think those are separate foundations, just level one on the ground and level two on the hill.

I didn't watch the stream, but I'm excited! The pictures look good.

I don't mind waiting a bit more. Sure, terrain tools are an old feature but sims had routing issues walking on uneven terrain in previous games. I'm sure they want this feature to go as smoothly as possible this time.

Well he built a room up and another down, do it appears there are multi level foundations.

If this becomes easier to do, it would be interesting. And I think it's a common complaint that you can't selectively add a foundation to your rooms, so I wonder if that's addressed. If they ever bring vehicles back, it would otherwise be hard to create a garage if your house a foundation.

That is already easy to do.

It's easy to do, but as he says in the video it causes some things to be a bit glitchy. It would be nice to have the intended feature instead of a workaround.

Without the video it's easy you make a room and delete the floor.

Yes, easy to make, but not fully functional. You still can't place items like the dartboard so it hits the floor and window placement can be tricky too, for example.

That is what MOO is for.

We just saw them hint at terrain tools on today's livestream. I love the idea of adding natural 'difficulties' for building on a lot (like a hill that I have to build on our around, a dip that I have to work with, etc.).

How will you use it in your game?

I won't be using it personally, but I hope someone somehow makes Elsa's ice castle.

Guys, this means that we might be able to make diy L-shaped stairs.

Also, am I the only one thinking that this might be a hint to a new world with more varying terrain levels both in the world generally and on lots. All the lots we have currently are on level ground, and aside from maybe a few in Brindleton Bay, I can't see how I would be able to use the new terrain tools to their full potential without it looking a bit wonky. I'm thinking that a new world with a few sloped lots might be very fitting and that the new patch could be used as a selling point for the pack it would come in.

Thank you, @Rebbilina I was wondering that too. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally excited, especially for the wonderful builders, but all the worlds are flat right now. It's going to look ridiculous having a house on a hill in the middle of a completely flat land. I don't know. Definitely going to try it out, but I think it's going to look funny, and not a good funny.

I really hope we can build separate foundation heights. It does look a bit like it in the video. That has been my biggest build mode pet peeve. The terrain tool is really cool as well. I hope it’s sims 4 build mode friendly. I always had a hard time with it in sims 2 and 3, but sims 4 tends to simplify build tools a bit which I like.

The first thing I'm going to do is raise Vlad's house. I always thought it needed to be high on a hill, like a specter looking down on Forgotten Hollow.

I'm hoping I can get someone to recreate this lot for me. It's one of my favorite Sims 3 lots and would be perfect on that large lot in Brindleton Bay.

I'll be using the gallery and downloading builds lol. I want the Psycho House.. for sure...looking forward to seeing that done right. I doubt I'll use any builds with drastic use of the terrain tools though. Will be nice for making larger lots look more natural.
