Thank god it doesn't look like Outdoor Retreat!

I'm really really happy that this new GP isn't just "another boring vacation GP". I honestly don't like Outdoor Retreat at all and I think that family players or players who play "normal life" got enough new things during last year already(toddlers as a free update, parenthood, C&D etc).
It was about a time for something fun, fresh and dangerous. This pack sure looks different from what we have so far in TS4. I love the new CAS that we saw on the teaser video and the new world looks amazing! I can't wait to make Sim Lara Croft and start doing amazing adventures with her. I also can't wait to cause misery to my Sims..

Please don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against family players or people who like to play "normal life". I'm happy that they got packs that were fit for their gameplay last year but there are other players out there who would also wish to get packs that suit for their gameplay.

It would be so cool if Outdoor Retreat got some improvements so that it didn't look so starkly inferior to Jungle Adventures. Let's us all get up and point out how it looks awful in comparison.

You can now turn into a skeleton! I wonder what the benefits are.

There's definitely more than five lots accessible from the map... and that's not even venturing into the deep jungle yet.

I enjoyed Outdoor Retreat still do but your new gp @SimGuruNinja appeals to the horn smiley face in me >:)
  • This pack makes Outdoor Retreat cry. What a huge difference. I think the sims team is seriously improving on ideas. And that dancing, every time I see it, makes me laugh, so cute. Only thing I can critique is that some things feel recycled, but not too big a deal. These are things I enjoyed in the sims 3 so i'm fine with it.

I agree I found OT very boring and ho hum and I definitely agree on the team improving the packs.

Keep in mind that Outdoor Retreat was the first game pack they ever released--it was a new concept to try out. I think that it's great for socializing with your sims and having a vacation in nature. The herbalist skill was neat, as was finding new insects and such. I had fun trying to figure out where the hidden lot/NPC was.

Jungle Adventure has made me super excited--on the same level as Cats & Dogs did. Do I think it's a vast improvement from Outdoor Retreat? Yes. But as a first game pack, I still think Outdoor Retreat is a fun time (and less dangerous).

With a bit of imagination and modification, OR isn't that bad for a first game pack. My Sim just maxed out Herbalism, so now I'm brewing up some of the potions to take to Selvadorada. I've got one of the small cabin lots with a bunch of easels outside, so I use it for artists retreats especially once they get to the Paint from Reference level so I can get some nice landscape paintings. I also have a restaurant on the former campground lot, and I added a massage center/spa when my Sims need a bit of pampering.

By repurposing existing content, that means they can spend more time on actual new content -- for example by using the rental system from OR for the "villas", that meant more resources could be devoted to the exploration and the tombs so they're not overly repetitive and Archaeology so you can tell the genuine from the fakes (I'll probably sell the real ones and use the fakes for decorating my Sim's house).
