The autonomous snow shoveling is quite literally driving me insane

I can't be the only one experiencing this: a sim is in the middle of a conversation and then takes off, runs five miles across the zone, and proceeds to shovel a random snow drift. What in the actual....

I haven't installed any behavior mods yet in this game, but I might have to check that out. I don't have the employee problem, that I've noticed, but I've had a lot of kids dropping homework or fun activities to go shovel snow. It just doesn't make sense!
