The autonomous snow shoveling is quite literally driving me insane

I can't be the only one experiencing this: a sim is in the middle of a conversation and then takes off, runs five miles across the zone, and proceeds to shovel a random snow drift. What in the actual....

This has been irritating me as well. What is even the POINT of shoveling snow? To me it seems like a completely useless action and a big time waster. Like many other things sims love to waste time on.
