- Daephene1New SpectatorI think the big problem is just that they did not make the life stages line up in terms of number of years each stage represents. For example, a toddler goes from 1-5 in one week, but by that math the sim is pregnant for 2 years and then the baby is an infant for 2 years. Similarly, the YA and Adult stages line up so that if one week equals four years they're aging to elder at about 50.
So I extend most of my sims' YA and Adult stages using potions of youth to make them age up to Adult at about 45 years old and to elder in their late 60s. By that math, Bella could have a 13 year old daughter and be in the later half of the YA stage. I usually age her up early so it does feel like she was not at the beginning of young adulthood when the game started.
Also I have a story for it in my game. I decided that she ran away from an unpleasant childhood in a spellcasting family at 18. She gave up magic so they'd have a harder time finding her, except for one last love potion. She found a wealthy man who seemed nice enough and gave him the potion, then got pregnant quick so he'd be trapped before it wore off. So she was about 19 when Cass was born.
I just have trouble seeing Bella as a victim to anyone. Also this gives me an explanation for why she knows about magic but doesn't have any in my game. - So your sims can get their hands on ambrosia or elixir of youth, but she can't?
Or maybe it's not the original Bella Goth. - ryttu3kNew SpectatorHonestly, I suspect the easiest answer is 'EA wasn't paying attention'.
Another odd ageing thing - Marcus Flex is an adult. Four YAs hanging out, partying, drinking, and flirting? Pretty normal. An adult inviting three younger people to live with him to party, drink, and flirt? Suspicious!! - What if, Cassandra is not Bella's biological daughter? ;) They purposely added her in the family tree so that no one is going to question them about Cassandra secret birth. Her name since TS2 does give me a different vibe. Even in the Greek mythology, the name Cassandra was cursed to be disbelieved.
Anywho, I always thought that both Bella & Mortimer are the same age since in TS3, they are a child. It's only that in the TS4 that they have a huge gap. Perhaps, there're more mysteries than what we knew so far. :D - Deleted

Are you implying women sometimes lie about their age?- According to TS2, Mortimer invented the Elixir of Life, so maybe Bella volunteered to test it and she and Mort are chronologically the same age like they were in TS3.
- @beadierturtle The wiki just said "widely believed", but it's a possibility.
- Daephene1New SpectatorI never played TS3 where they were the same age... in TS2 he was an elder and she wasn't, so I just assumed the ages in TS4 were based on that. At least I always assumed in TS2 that she was recently abducted and there was an age gap.
- akanikiNew SpectatorWell, she was abducted by aliens. If you travel far enough through space the people you left behind will age while aging seems to slow down for the person traveling.
