The Kleptomaniac System is dumb.

Just a light criticism, but the kleptomaniac system in the game is pretty stupid. It really hasn't been planned very well what you can and can't steal.

Like my sim can easily steal this giant, heavy statue from someones garden:

Yet he can't steal the bike that's just sitting there untied next to it:

Like where is the logic here? In real life that bike would be the easiest thing imaginable to steal, your sim can even ride around on it but they can't steal it! It doesn't make sense. :s
Even other things like laptops, small plants, small paintings, etc would realistically be the easiest things to steal but it doesn't work that way in the Sims. Idk, it's a very little thing but I'd love if it were improved to make it more logical
  • lol, you are right. If I ride around on someone else's bike, I'm pretty sure they are going to say I was stealing it. Especially, if I leave it somewhere else. If I don't ask to borrow, then it is stealing. Steal this bike should be in the list and it should result in riding off with it. lol
  • I think it's because the bike is part of the inventory, right? So technically it's attached to a sim. At least that's what I think is behind their reasoning, but I could be wrong. Can a sim pull something out of their inventory and another sim use it? I don't play enough to understand how inventory items work.
  • Designer for the kleptomaniac trait here, that is interesting with the bike.

I always found it funny when Sims could swipe overly large items as I imagine it would be funny to see.

Anyways I will totally look into the bike swiping seems like something we can do.

I sent my sim for a walk once and found an unattended bike sitting in the sidewalk. I had her ride it around the neighborhood. I kept hoping someone would come running after her having a fit but nobody paid any attention. After the joyride I left it on the sidewalk again. Next time she went for a walk it was gone. I never did figure out who owned it.
