The Many Faces of My Sim Self's Lounge

Continuing on from my sim self's recent divorce, his now ex second wife finally paid back the $70,000 simoleans that his former father-in-law embezzled from my sim self's bakery which forced my sim self to close. With the extra money he did some work major work to his house of 13 sim years. He has finally finished refurbishing, remodelling and re-decorating it.

Looking back through my 4,263 screenshots, my sim self's lounge room has had a total of four make-overs between 1980 and the current year in my save which is 1993.

When i returned to the game in 2021, i decided it would be fun to play year by year starting in 1979 and see how long he lives until and how many generations his family gets to.

Here is the original lounge room in 1980:

Re-decorated in 1984 after my sim self's youngest children Beatrix and Carlin moved out. Carlin moved back in briefly after graduating University until his own house had finished construction:

My sim self's second youngest daughter Beatrix and partner Grant take over the house for a year and re-decorated in 1989:

Do your lounge rooms look the same from the very first day you played or have they undergone make-overs like my sim self's has?

  • My living room has undergone many renovations over the past five years. Usually the release of a new pack signals it's time to redecorate.
  • I quite like the 1980's lounge with the bold leopard print lamp. The 1993 version is nice too. My sims' lounges, actually their entire houses and lots go through massive changes during gameplay, to the point that they usually need complete makeovers. They start out with neatly laid out lots, and over time collectible stuff gets accumulated, rooms get quickly and cheaply (and sometimes very shoddily) built out of necessity, with salvaged furniture from the dumpster or cheaply bought at the flea market or whatever was affordable from the catalogue, so the colours and style don't match anymore.
