I've never really had an issue with the evil trait. The one that is the problem is mean spirited. I usually don't set my sims with that trait, but I did download a sim who has that trait and she kept terrorizing her boyfriend. It drove me nuts because their relationship stayed low. I've found evil to be more focused on emotions and behaviors on self. Mean spirited deals with being mean to others.
