How has this ruined everything??

People are too sensitive nowadays, if they could, some people live in a glass dome, just to not be in touch with the dangers of the real world. And anything that is said to them is an ofense, people please grow up, this game is what it is because of people like you, that like to talk with toilets but don't want your sims to be called insane. - anthonydyer7 years agoSeasoned AceThat's funny... because yesterday I was thinking of using the insane trait, couldn't find it, then gave up and found a different trait.
I don't really see the problem with insane. The game really could use some new traits, as sims seem shallow. 3 traits does not adequately describe a sim either. - NeverSeemsToEnd7 years agoSeasoned Hotshot

I don't really understand what the problem is. All they've done is change the name to something a little more sensitive, and suddenly humour's dead? I just find it kind of ironic that when something like this happens, people complain about how the world's too sensitive, too PC, nothing is allowed to be funny anymore etc etc, and yet you're the one offended because they've changed the name from insane to eccentric?
your allowed to feel however you want I'm not here to tell you how you should feel I'm just saying how I feel
Fair enough, and I'm not trying to say that people should be upset or offended by the word insane necessarily, I just don't understand how people can be offended by it being changed in the patch, that's all. Seems to me it's either something you're happy about, or indifferent to, I don't really see how it can be a negative thing or make you feel bad.
Because they already tried to change the way vampires behave, than a simguru stated that it was a mistake bla bla bla, now they change a name of a trait, not really a improvment of the game, they change it only because of the sensitivity of some people. Some time ago i read a post of a simmer that was in shock, really in shock, only because her cat started to vomit all over the place. Someday this will be more like that type of kids games we see for free on the internet, people get too sensitive, ohhh the sims 1, good old days..... :pensive: - anthonydyer7 years agoSeasoned Ace

Am I the only one who never associated the word "insane" with a mental illness? If the trait would have been called "bipolar" for example, I would understand this, but insane doesn't say anything about a mental illness, and I've never seen it like this.
@Huiiie_07 I always interpreted insane as a mild version. Such as quirky. Kind of like Brick Heck from The Middle. - I feel like I've seen lots of comments on here about people saying that it's been changed because people are too sensitive and the like nowadays but tbh it seems more like all the people getting genuinely irate over it are the ones being too sensitive...
Literally nothing in the game has changed, the trait hasn't changed it's just been renamed to something less offensive and outdated, you can still create zany characters and your sims won't change, there's far bigger problems in the game let's concentrate on them  - sikoah7 years agoSeasoned VeteranI personally didn't use the insane trait at because I felt as if the sims were more erratic. Insane to be is a blanket statement that encompasses an entire group of people and waters them down. Insanity happens. Insanity can take many forms. The blanket statement didn't fit the trait. In this day an age I feel like people would be apt to call mental disorders for what they really are. For instance, bi-polar, schizophrenia, psychotic and so many more. We have names for "insane" which carries a certain connotation. I think they are just calling the trait what it is. I get both of the sides of the argument here. That being said, it doesn't bother me.

I don't really care about the change of name, but if you read my previous answer in this post you might understant my point of view, if they start to change everything only because someone is to sensitive about something, and if we don't say nothing, they will start to change all the game, i don't even understand how we still have a criminal career, and a kleptomanic trait. :unamused: If we don't talk now, will be someone who will say that career or trait instigate younger simmer to be criminals. People put their real world frustration on games, for example, parents that lack on capacities to educate a child, sometimes put the guilt on tv shows or games.
