I don't really understand what the problem is. All they've done is change the name to something a little more sensitive, and suddenly humour's dead? I just find it kind of ironic that when something like this happens, people complain about how the world's too sensitive, too PC, nothing is allowed to be funny anymore etc etc, and yet you're the one offended because they've changed the name from insane to eccentric?

Fair enough, and I'm not trying to say that people should be upset or offended by the word insane necessarily, I just don't understand how people can be offended by it being changed in the patch, that's all. Seems to me it's either something you're happy about, or indifferent to, I don't really see how it can be a negative thing or make you feel bad.
well I like insane cartoons like freakazoid or pinky or mad doctors like doctor hugo strange in batman comics are harly and the joker
and I don't want them to go away and its things like this that make me think one day they might thats why this makes me feel bad- HRH_Ethan8 years agoNew VeteranI'm not bothered I rather enjoyed the insane trait. It grew on me during the Asylum Challenge. As for bothering those who have a mental illness, well that would be silly. BDP, PTSD, etc are not insanity, they are illnesses that are treatable. Insanity really is not treatable. And cannot say as Ieven noticed it was changed. LOL As defined by the free dictionary...insanity
a medically obsolete term for mental derangement or disorder. Insanity is now a purely legal term, denoting a condition due to which a person lacks criminal responsibility for a crime and therefore cannot be convicted of it. adj., insane´.

insanity A legal rather than a medical term, implying a disorder of the mind of such degree as to interfere with a person's ability to be legally responsible for his or her actions. The term is little used in medicine but might equate to PSYCHOSIS. A defence of insanity, in law, is governed by the McNaughten Rules. These state, in part, ‘The jurors ought to be told in all cases that every man is presumed to be sane and to possess a sufficient degree of reason to be responsible for his crimes, until the contrary be proved to their satisfaction: and that to establish a defence on the grounds of insanity, it must be clearly proved that, at the time of the committing of the act, the party accused was labouring under such a defect of reason, from disease of the mind, as not to know the nature and quality of the act he was doing or, if he did know it, that he did not know he was doing what was wrong.’

That's just not going to happen though. The trait itself hasn't even disappeared, all that's happened is it's name has been changed, it's hardly as if all those things you like are going to stop existing. I just think you're making a mountain out of a molehill, catastrophising or whatever.- PINKY!! Are you pondering what I'm pondering? I think so, Brain, but if Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why does he keep on doing it?
PINKY!! Are you pondering what I'm pondering? I think so, Brain, but me and Pippi Longstocking -- I mean, what would the CHILDREN look like?
I wish I could tell jokes like that - Love pinky .
The word Insane was used as a generic term for mental illnesses up until late 70's early 80's its incorrect and doesn't help with education that's all.
I've never been bothered by it, Just understand why some might have been and I agree if it offends some then removing it doesn't hurt you. - It's 2018 and everything is offensive to someone. All the big companies(like EA) are being "extra (too) careful" with every little thing that can upset someone..
I wish they would use the time to make Sims 4 better rather than doing something like this.. "ItsJanier;c-16437029" wrote:

I hope your right I really am worried with the way things are going- Dreamprisoner8 years agoSeasoned AceI'm a little bit baffled as to why they did it. Players have been complaining that Sims 4 is too bright and happy for ages, and that they want more grit. Changing Insane to erratic seems like a step in the opposite direction. Besides, an 'erratic' sim makes me think of someone who runs around and can't keep still, and is always doing things. Not someone who hisses and talks to them-self. Personally, it was fine as it was, it didn't allude to any mental illness specifically. I'd throw this change in with the fact sims don't touch when they kiss, and there's no proper slap animation. I'm not annoyed at the change itself, but I am annoyed by the direction it seems to suggest Sims 4 is taking.

Exactly, seems like they're more concerned with protecting their reputation than making a good game. Plus, if 'insane' isn't even appropriate for Sims 4, how can we expect it to ever get deeper, beyond just a game pandering toward children?
