I was sooooo disappointed when I discovered that children were unable to take pictures with teens/adult :/ as well as the two sim limit. I'm not sure I'd have the patience to piece together the family photos like you did but man... I'm envious and want them!
The trick is to get the two on the chairs into a semi-decent pose and then quickly pause. If you already have the 2 sims that you are taking a pic of standing there, then it will immediately take the pic. It was trial and error and it did take a lot of patience. Especially since the poses get all messed up or repetitive. Don't even get me started on that dumb photobombing gnome.
