I agree but it's not the game. When I got my first house in sims 3 it was destroyed (I think by fire or something) before I moved in. And I had the option of having a firefighter come help clean up. That was so unexpected and amazing! I loved it! And all the other unexpected stuff that happened. Burgerlers were iconic.
Look how they ruined the repo man in ts4. I never seen him a day in my life because it's only for student loans? And you have to cheat sims to be poor enough not to be able to pay. But I remember seeing him ALL the time in ts3. It was so horrifyingly unexpected.? if burgerlers come back I'm afraid I might never see him. If they didn't like vampires how will players accept burglars which is pretty much the same thing?
I think technology and the players are the problem.
Players because they are the ones always screaming they want everything nerfed to a perfect world. So what is the company suppose to do?
Now they could ignore the screaming players and stick to their vision of the game like will wright did.
He made the game in HIS vision. You got what he gave you take it or leave it.
The problem came when they started trying to turn it into the players vision and become inclusive to please EVERYONE. That's literally impossible to do.
So they sacrifice everything remotely too exciting or controversial to please the world of players.
But technology is the problem too. Because if they chose to ignore screaming players constantly you get too many people all over social media platforms trashing the company about how they never listen and they are being attacked in game or whatever. And it reaches too many platforms and steers away new players.
so the company has no choice but to bend their knee to them.
