- catloverplayerRising AceI'm personally ok with the calendar coming to the base game but for those of us with City Living I'm hoping we ll finally get an update so festivals pop up on the calendar.

Lol. What's the point of buying packs if they patch in all the selling points of EP's in for free anyway?
I just can't anymore with their plum practices.
What's the point of buying a movie ticket if they just air the movie for free on tv 3 years later?
EA, simultaneously the greediest company that charges too much, but also how dare they give away content for free that I bought 3 years ago.
Who cares? How does it affect you in any way if a calendar, which is most likely just for schedules and not holidays, was made free 3 years after it was introduced?
I wouldn't care if the entire pack was made free. I bought it 3 years ago, I've more than made my moneys worth since then. Somebody else getting something for free 3 years later had absolutely zero effect on me, and to pretend otherwise is silly.
It's not because of the calendar only. They did this with objects and hairstyles in the past too. It's the idea of them 'giving away' content people paid for. Not because it is ''just a calendar''... Where does it stop?
If this thing was supposed to be Base Game, they should have patched it in immediately for free for everyone, and not use it as a marketing feature for the Seasons EP itself imo.
Fine you don't mind, but I surely do.
It obviously wasn't meant to be free when Seasons released. They probably gave it some thought and decided that adding it to the base game makes sense. We'll probably get some updates to it that will make it even better. It's nothing to get upset over. Again, it's not like they are adding weather and seasons for free.
I hope they wouldn't add weather and seasons (and I also don't think they'd do that). I intentionally didn't buy the Seasons EP because I actually don't want its main features. I'd like to have the calendar (and a few other things from that EP), but not enough to pay for all the stuff I don't want along with it.
You won't have to worry about the base game calendar adding weather and seasons. That won't happen but it could be used to plan dates and other stuff. - crocobauraSeasoned Ace

Weddings! - I would rather they move the basic calendar to the base game and then add to it instead of leaving it how it is only supporting seasons. As long as they don't give away holidays in good.
I'm usually not a big fan at all of them taking things from packs and adding them to the base game. I feel ripped off. But for a function like this if they do more than just slap it in the base game I can feel positive about it. "Gordy;c-17846304" wrote:
I can understand why people would be annoyed at them taking a pack feature and moving it into the base game. It's totally fair to feel ripped off, so matter how long it's been since it was released. EPs are expensive and if you'd known such and such feature would be free later on, it could have affected your decision to purchase.
That said, I'm fine with the calendar possibly coming to the base game. .It wasn't a big draw of Seasons, it was mostly there to facilitate the bigger features, which I actually cared about It's also not doing all that much in Seasons, whereas putting it in the base game will let them expand on the feature way more. Plus if they get rid of the City Living and Snowy Escape pop-ups and just put them on the calendar, that would be hella.
This right here. I didn't buy Seasons because of the calendar feature, I bought it for seasons, weather, and holidays. As well as some of the CAS and BB items.
The calendar, as far as I'm concerned is just a way to keep track of these things. So as long as they're not patching seasons, weather, and holidays into the base game (which I assume they're not going to do anyway) I really couldn't care less.
I can get people being upset by the idea of them making a paid feature for free. Yes, it sucks but considering it's not a main feature or the selling point, it doesn't make Seasons worth any less in value.
Now if they ripped mermaids out of Island Living to put into base game, that's a different story. That's a feature that actually adds some value to Island Living (or at least to me.)- I'm so happy to see people who only have access to the base game or minimal content get more features :)
- I thought the calendar (for scheduling stuff, not the holidays) should've gone into the base game when Seasons dropped in the first place, so I have ZERO problem with them adding it these years later.

I'm not expecting holidays to come with the calender to the base game. That will be Seasons exclusive.
That is still not fair. - Calenders = base game update. Extra trait slot = base game update. (Plausible Speculation of Zodiac Signs... Just saying) it would tie up any & all loose ends & give reason for both. Plus it makes sense with a Gen. Pack. (Bdays, weddings, funerals, etc.) I hope we eventually get baby showers with better babies and funerals with CAS-able ghosts. I want ghosts to be the next occult.
- BabykittyjadeNew ObserverThere is no way for them to add some of the demanded features, update the game, and just keep overall adding to it to make it better if certain things don't go base game. I'm sure planning years in the future is hard and they don't realize until later that certain things should have been basegame in order to add a particular feature. And many things have to be revaluated. So for the people who feel it's not fair I understand your point but don't you want an improved game? Like what if it really is zodiac signs or something like that? You want it to be strictly paywalled with a new pack exclusive calendar?
