Indeed, they are dragging this out as long as possible. They are selling hope, not features.
I think at this stage they know that if they release another game and it's also bad people will just stop paying.
Whereas with 4 people will complain, but they can just add a small feature in a pre pack patch and everyone will suddenly be hopeful and positive about the game again and then because they're positive they'll buy the pack a few days later. Then a few weeks later people will realise it's actually not that exciting and then start complaining again, but they've bought the pack so EA doesn't care. That seems to be exactly how their marketing works now.
