This happens everywhere. Its not specific for the Sims 4. Ive seen so many cases in so many games where people do both things. They ask for content and fixes at the same time lol.
In games where bugs are a plague, like in this case, nobody should ask for more content. Its just common sense. Ask for fixes instead. But well, i guess gamers from this generation didnt know anything else but bugged videogames, so they see it as a normal thing. Unfortunately.
Not everybody has the same problems. My game hasn't crashed and I have no issues with the game. There's other people out there who too have no issues, but they don't go online and comment. Just because you're having problems doesn't mean its like that for everyone.
There are so many variables that can cause bugs and crashing: computer specs, mods, background tasks, other things installed on computer, the computer itself, in game settings, amount of DLC. This is what makes bugs hard to identify and fix. Its a bad business move to ignor new content entirely to try to fix a game, which may not actually be broken. That's why they do bug fixes at the same time as releasing new content. Clearly if people are asking for more content then their game is running with no major issues.
