I think the loading things all time is a very annoying problem, but they might be potential solution without actually removing the loading
Just a idea...
Suggestion: Time Tracking
How it works:
1: Basically when a Sim leaves the plot, the plot's time is saved.
2: In new zone time is tracked... eg how long they stay in that zone.
3: When that Sim leave the zone the Sim becomes flagged and 'busy' till X time (based on time they left zone)
4: When you return to main plot you can manage the rest of your sims normally from the time that was saved earlier...
5: The sim that left zone will not be availble till he/she is due back based your previous action on that sim.
Example
Sim John Doe leaves at 8am in morning, goes work, and after work goes to pub to socialise, and finally returns home at 6pm
When he return home you then control Sim Jane doe, time is again 8am, you spend day socialising, exercising and watch some tv, then cook food... John Doe is not about all day but he walks in automatically at 6pm.
From 6pm you once again control both sims.
.
Benefits:
1:Give more intimate control of a single Sim, without jugguling a dozen at once.
2: Less stressful micro managing multiple sims in different zones.
3: Far less zone loading.
Flaws:
1: Might be harder to organise family events if you don't track time well
eg... sorry mom, didn't see time sorry i late for tea... mom angry coz son late
But in a way, thats a story in its own right so could be a good thing.
2: Might have some degree of sync errors if 2 sims leave house at different times and travel to same zone.
eg... Sim A will see Sim B wandering the zone because they was in that zone at that given time, but interacting with them is not possible as the day for that person has already played out.
