Overall, I am pleased with the game, despite the bugs. It still plays like the same game, but with the new UI it feels fresh and new.
Things I like:
- The new CAS process - Being able to have up to 5 outfits per category is really refreshing, and being able to "pull" the Sim into the body type is a nice addition vs. sliders.
- Pregnancy tests are a nice addition. I can't say I miss that "Rockabye Baby" chime from the old games.
- Percentages on skills progress! Now I have an idea of how long my Sims will need to spend time doing a particular task before their skill levels up.
- Not having to travel far to fish or buy books.
- Breastfeeding
- Multitasking
- Logs of past notifications.
- The ability to search for items in buy mode.
- Autosave. My computer crashed while playing the other day and I hardly lost anything thanks to autosave not too long before the crash.
Things I dislike:
- Lack of weather. Perhaps it's coming back in an expansion, but having seasons in the game has been my favorite feature/expansion since Sims 2, and it would certainly be nice to have weather/seasons as a default in a base game.
- Not being able to adjust Sim height in CAS. I was really hoping this would've been an addition with the overhaul of CAS. Was sad to see that wasn't the case.
- Male hair in CAS is still severely lacking, especially where curly hair is concerned.
- Some tasks seem to take abnormally long to complete, showers especially. A basic shower seems to take my Sim between 2-3 sim hours at times, even without the "need" being in the yellow or red. That is excessive, imo. Also, eating while multitasking takes a lot longer than necessary too. I understand that between talking, it may take more time to take another bite, but sometimes they just stop eating entirely.
- Lack of toddlers. This was my favorite stage of development while playing families. Sad to see it's no longer there.
- The lighting is pretty bad. It takes twice as many lamps/lights in each room to get even adequate lighting.
Suggestions:
- Accrued vacation days for Sims/Maternity leave for new mothers.
- Shorter, more realistic shower lengths.
- Some semblance of weather. A little rain now and then would be fine, even.
- Ability to view "selfies" Sims take together.
Thanks!
