Overall, I am enjoying the game ALOT more than I thought I would when reading other reviewers comments prior to purchasing my own game. It did, however, take several days of constant play to become obsessed (which I am now).
Things I like:
*CAS! The new CAS system is beyond amazing. Kudos to the designers for that one. I love designing my Sims and being able to tweak the tiniest details is great. The clothes selection is super sweet, too! I can’t wait for future EP/SP’s to add to the clothing collection.
*Kids! Thank goodness for the new kids. No more pudding face! It’s great and I actually enjoy playing with them again.
*I love that with various emotions you can draw/cook/write different items. Really cool.
*Art work looks superb! The Artist career is fun again.
*Family interactions are better in this game.
*I love the Pregnancy Test! A real life situation I didn’t know that I wanted in game until you guys gave it to us.
*Bills that cause the power to be shut off if not paid. So much better than the corny Repo guy with his ray gun.
*Multi-tasking is amazing. I love that my Sims can eat and watch tv WHILE carrying on a conversation, too! It’s great. .
*Pregnancy is so much better now! I love that the clothes adjust to the belly bump. Also, like that my Sim can still go to work, although I would like the option to take a day or so off after the baby.
Things I don’t like:
*Requiring internet to install the base game and, I imagine, the EP/SP’s that are to come. I live waaaaay out in the country and short of dial up (which would require someone to come install a home phone as we don’t have one of those either) I have no option but to butter up my husband to haul my 80+ lb gaming tower all the way to his office in the middle of the night so I can install my game. Real lame. This means that I will have to save up 2-3 packs and do one trip to install them later. Saying No Internet Required was kind of a sham, wasn’t it? Clearly it is required, just not to do the actual game play.
*No locks on the doors, both front door and doors in the residence. I am tired of my Sims meandering in to the bathroom and catching their sibling or child sans clothing or walking in to the bedroom and catching their parents woo-hooing! They spend entirely too much time hiding in the covers from embarrassment. Also, have several neighbors who just walk in to the house without knocking. Locks would help tremendously.
*No Create A Style. I feel that my creativity in building/designing is severely limited. I was a huge fan of creating houses and designing rooms, now I grow frustrated. The furniture doesn’t seem to go with one another very well and I am just OCD enough that it irritates me. But, I read that it wouldn’t be added ever, so I guess I need to build a bridge and get over my frustrations.
*Musical chairs can be annoying. Sims are always changing chairs during meals to talk to other Sims.
*I miss all those lovely playground items from Sims 3 and hope we eventually get something other than the monkey bars or those absurdly large playground ship things.
*With all the emotions the Sims have now I find it hard to believe that my Sims don’t get jealous if their spouse/partner flirts with another Sim or even has woo-hoo relations with them. They just go about like nothing is wrong? Odd.
*And I really don’t like that when my Sims get married, the new spouses name doesn’t change.
*I miss the normal careers that we used to have. My Sims were regularly doctors or police officers. I also miss the teacher career. Maybe those could be added in with later expansions? Ooh! Maybe if you guys do a University EP you could add in specific careers that would require a college degree to get? That’d be super cool as University was always one of my favorite EP’s in S2 and S3.
Thanks a bunch! I love Sims 4!
