So, Im in my 30's and have been playing Sims since I was a kid. I am a loyal fan, but not once have I ever felt my complaint bothered me enough to go on the forums and write about it. Not until Sims 4, that is. I have had the game for one day and am so disappointed with it that Im considering not continuing with it since the Sims 3 is so much better.
Things I like:
More styles, better graphics, more options on changing features of the people, and a few other minor things I cant really remember because they were not that much better then anything in Sims 3. Not really much else really hit my radar.
Things I dislike (GREATLY):
No toddlers. Why? It was one of the best features of the game. If your going to give us the "age up" option then keep the option to go through the toddler stage. Whomever decided to cut out the toddler stage should be fired immediately.
Who else needs to be fired? Whoever came up with the idea to scrap the family tree. WHY??? I sat scratching my head for a full twenty minutes, ticked off and baffled by the missing genealogy tree. Why in the world would you decide to scrap that when the whole game is about creating people and families?? There are so many reasons why I liked the family tree that it would take me too long to type it up, but that was a horrible decision to scrap that. Fire someone. Immediately.
Now the next think that ticked me off was the fact that you got rid of the option to move or kick someone out. I can promise you that NO ONE wants to go to an edit screen to move someone out. Why complicate it like that when you had it perfected in Sims 3?? WHY?? Fire someone for that. it's terribly annoying.
The neighborhood is the next thing I hate. I can also promise you that NO ONE wants to go to a loading screen, when in the past you could just scroll around the neighborhood. That change (along with a million others in the game that were changed to make things more complicated) blows my mind. It's terrible. The neighborhood is small and I spend a large amount of time staring at a loading screen. BORING!!!!
I feel like their is no point to making families anymore, since you can't really keep track of them like you could with the family tree. I hate also that babies don't have personalities. Why have you guys not perfected this by now?
My main complaint is that I feel like Sims 4 should have been an improvement from Sims 3, and it's not. It's like the time I bought Sims Medieval, MAJORLY disappointing. You have very few improvements, and a lot of things that you just went completely backwards on. You should have taken the improvements that were made on Sims 3, and then made Sims 4 even better by adding MORE improvements. That's the way the Sims games have always been made. The next edition out is better then the last.
Last thing that stinks (there were a HUGE amount of things that should be minor but because I was used to them improving the game so much in Sims 3 and miss them, they are now major problems for me) was that the scroll doesn't work when you try to go down. Every other direction, but not down. Then, I have ALWAYS hated birds eye view and have NEVER played in I. Now I have no other option. You took a LARGE number of play options away, and that was a bad decision.
Now that I have to wait for the town to load whenever I want to go anywhere I find that I am no longer going anywhere, and I am so bored. Ive only have the game for one day. I feel like the game makers decided to just completely scrap everything positive they did in Sims 3 and just start over. I get that this is a base game, but why is it so much LESS then what we got with the Sims 3 base game? It's like the people who made this game decided they gave us too much with the Sim 3 game, so they decided to go back and create a Sims base game that is more like Sims 2. I just can't get over how boring the game is. There is pretty much nothing to do in it.
I agree with the other commenters who said it feels like the meters go down a lot faster. I have no time to do anything other then shower, pee, eat, and sleep. You can't ask people to pay $60 for a base game that gives less then the previous version's base game. That is INSANITY and makes me feel like the makers have gotten greedy. Why take away so many of the careers, objects ( I am sick of washing dishes), life stages, and extras that made the game more user friendly and fun. I feel like I got completely ripped off, and I am editing this because after another day of playing I a even more angry and frustrated. This version of the Sims game is complete RUBISH.
My biggest question? WHAT HAPPENED??? I feel like the makers of this game just didn't give a care about anything that the buyers wanted or cared about. Biggest disappointment ever. Even worse then Sims Medieval, and that was a major bomb.
Dear Makers: Do everyone a favor and LISTEN to the people who write on the forums and take your surveys. We are telling you EXACTLY what we want, and it's pretty much the same requests being asked over and over.
