The sims 4 game was not going to last forever .

Why I understand people do not like when games end.I was kind of suprise that some people were suprise and dissapointed that we were getting a new sims game . The thing is sims 4 is 8 years old and almost 10 years old game .(I belive we still have a few years left .) This game is old and why I would like things I want in-game.I know that because the engine which probably outdated I might not get what I want.I don't see us getting cars for once. The game was not going to last forever.

  • I'm honestly not too upset about ts4 reaching it's end. At least once it's over I know exactly what my limitations are for gameplay, and won't give up yet another save halfway through because maybe one day we'll get a pack that allow us to do that could make it better. Plus that means modders who want to keep on expanding their mods will be able to do that without anticipating/fixing broken stuff due to patches. I don't know if i'll ever move to Rene, I'm a bit scared that it's going to turn out similar to 4 in the wrong way, but i'll keep an eye on it just in case, we haven't seen much of it yet
  • My biggest wish for Rene/The Sims/The Sims 5 (as a few youtubers pointed out they could just call it The Sims due to how different it might be) is that I won't have to buy a new laptop, as I *just* bought one about a year ago & would like to keep using it for more than three or four years & my game plays very well on it.
  • I don't think people were surprised so much as everyone has different expectations and set themselves up for disappointment by thinking the devs will do everything exactly as they want. It was more surprising they were showing such an early concept.

I’m interested to see what comes next but equally I’m quite happy to keep playing Sims 4 for a while after the next Sims game comes out. I’m not generally an early-adopter of the new gen games. I’ll play them eventually but I like to wait until they’ve had a bit more content added via expansions.

You know, this is really true. Everyone has their own idea of the perfect game. Problem is, my idea isn’t going to look like anyone else’s. The hysteria over “secret hints” in the concept art, or what the gurus last tweets mean would be fun speculation if people didn’t take it so seriously and become bitter when it doesn’t happen. In the next few years until TS5s release, some of us will get most of what we want, some will get a little of what we want, and some will just keep declaring “literally, nobody asked for this!” If we didn’t build up expectations around our personal perfect game, maybe we’d be a little less disappointed.

Maybe I’m too transactional. EA produces a product. If I like it, I buy it. If not, I don’t. Either way, the only thing it affects in my life is how I set up my entertainment. Life’s too short to be outraged over a game.
  • When I first saw the announcement for the Summit, my immediate thought was TS5 was going to be annuonced. Especially since they cancelled EA Play Live 2022 and stated:

We love EA Play Live as it’s our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you. However, this year things aren’t lining up to show you everything on one date.

We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year!

So I assumed this was how they would be announcing upcoming games/releases for their studios.

But then when I saw the dancers and heard about the on street interviews, and the comedian host .... I figured it was all just an overblown super-hype about TS4 being free to draw in new players.

So, it was not really a surprise to me that it was announced as being in production.

What surprised me most, was that they actually showed a little footage of it rather than just some cryptic "The Future Is Soon" type message with a new plumbob.

Anyway, I'm on Team TS5 (been on it, for years now), so it makes me happy!

And based upon all of the statements about how early in production they are, we have 2-3+ years before it's released.

Hopefully in that time, some players will get some of the things they've been asking for. They just need to be realistic about how much stuff they're wanting to be added before TS4 DLC ends.

We literally get maybe 2 EPs a year (if we're lucky) and sometimes 2 GPs a year. And a sh......load of kits (which are pretty much useless as far as enhancing the game and does nothing more than add some more aesthetic assets to the catalog).

They've told us numerous times that a GP takes about a year to make and EPs longer. So that means whatever they've been working on currently and finishing up is coming in 2023 and whatever they're starting next year will be released in 2024. That doesn't leave too too too many more years left for DLC releases if TS5 were to come out in 2025.

Some people's TS4 Wishlist Before It Ends, is like 50 new items, 7-8 New Worlds, and a list of like 5-7 New EPs and GPs, that's NOT realistic.

But simmers need to remember, even when TS5 comes out, that does not mean TS4 will never be able to be played again and nobody will force/coherce/shame them into buying the next version if that's not something they want to do. All it means is that DLC content for TS4 will eventually dwindle down to nothing once TS5 becomes the main game.

    Kaching! for EA.
10 years of profit instead of five years from the development cost of 1 game.

    I agree with this .
