Like some other simmers, I recently received the notification that the Sims 4 was no longer supported by my old computer. No big deal. I simply download the Sims 4 Legacy Edition... But much to my dismay, all of my save files and sims were gone (all of which had accumulated over the last 4 years). I lost all of my legacies as well. To make things worse, I can't access the gallery. I am not a builder, so I am completely at a loss. I don't like any of the given houses in worlds and all of the sims I had created and downloaded are gone. I will probably not be playing the sims until I get a new computer and I don't know even think that will happen. I'm so disappointed and confused as to why this was necessary. My graphics and the game itself seemed to work just fine. I have lost so many memories and one of my favorite hobbies.

I have lost so many memories and one of my favorite hobbies. i asked a similar question on EA Answers HQ and the response i got is that you can move your 64bit TS4 tray folder across to the legacy tray folder and it will all be there.I don't know if you use a mac? and if you do i don't know what the file and folder system is like and i'm unable to help.if you run windows? User > libraries > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Tray.obviously don't transfer over saved households and lots that contain DU stuff, because legacy will never get that.

Mine got notified too.. weird, but I still play fine with the non-legacy version

I think everyone got that notice on Origin to make sure those running 32 bit would see it.

Hey. I'm not sure if this is the right place but I couldn't find a better thread. I just wanted to get this out there. My computer isn't the best to play Sims on. It's used my many different people in my household and is a few years older than it probably should be. Because of this, I couldn't play Sims for awhile in order to get some help updating it. Once this happened, I was thrilled to be able to play again. And I did for about a month or so. And then this happened. I'm not joking when I say that I sat at the computer and cried. I don't understand why this is necessary and it makes me sad that I have to wait to get a new computer in order to play the Sims at it's best. I don't see that happening in the near future though. I'm not a builder either, so you can understand my frustration with being forced to. And even worse, I can't download University. So it makes me even more upset when they (sims creators/people in charge??) hype it up so much, then say "By the way, half the community can't access this." I hope you can understand where I'm coming from.

They put it off for quite a long time as this was mentioned around the time months ago when Strangerville came out I believe? Can understand most probably still didn't know this if they're not really on forums or twitter or other sim community websites. There's just no benefit in supporting 32 bit systems much as it does suck. Same with the last pack of this year coming out being University as it was 64 bit only compatible as that does suck seeing that you can't have it. I kinda didn't have faith in low spec computers being able handle pack after pack as like with the sim series performance gets more demanding. You can still play with Legacy, just can't buy anymore packs.Best to start slowly saving up for a decent computer with good specs to run the game. I had caught a gaming one on sale around Christmas for about $700 which actually came into my budget. I know the feeling of having a ocmputer than can't play games you wanna play. (Me with the Sims 2).I do hope they manage to make it where players with Legacy can have access to the gallery.

Hi, I know I'm not the person you were actually talking to but I'm still having issues with Legacy Edition, because I'm not quite sure I actually need it. I'm just going to leave my specs here, so if someone could tell me why I need Legacy that would be appreciated.

MacBook Pro (Late 2011 Model)- Its old, I know but it has been running 64-bit for quite some time

Intel HD Graphics 3000 512MB Graphics Card
I'm currently running High Sierra v10.13.6

I hate building and I more often than not use gallery Sims for the base of a lot of my Sims, so I would love to have the normal game back. I understand that EA did it because of Apple, but this is still a really rough update for me.

I’m not very familiar with any type of Mac, so I’m sure someone else could help more. I believe the reason you need the legacy edition (even though you have a 64 bit) is because your Mac needs Metal, and a lot of older models don’t support that.

I have been playing sims 4 for a while now and I got a notification I needed legacy edition so I downloaded it. I lost all my saves! I got the tray files from the sims 4 folder and when I tried to use the lots, rooms and households I got a message saying I couldn't use them because they were made with a different version of the game. I am so disappointed in EA for doing this. I had to rebuild and remake everything. I had saved a bunch of stuff to the gallery that I can't find because the feature was removed.

@milcahkang I had the same issue for a few days but I got really lucky and the game started working again

Hello, Im wondering if anyone could help me. Recently since I've had to download legacy my mods aren't working. As soon as I check of allow script mods and come back my game doesn't load at all. I can play if i don't allow script mods, but honestly sims 4 isn't fun without mods and cc. Has anyone had this problem? I play on a 2011 macbook and have the following mods: wicked whims, basemental/drugs, life drama, and extreme violence. Only the drugs mod somewhat works but everything else doesn't work. I know the mods aren't outdated too since my sister on a newer macbook model has been able to use the same mods perfectly fine. Can anyone help me on this issue or has solved it?

I haven't done full research on this topic but this is what worked for me:

I got the same notice that my computer no longer supported the Sims 4. I was gutted and had a mental breakdown. I was lucky that Christmas was 2 weeks away and I had already asked for a new computer which was a different brand from the one I was using at that time. Christmas came, and once I set up my computer and got everything I needed on there, I realised... 'Wait! I still need the Sims 4 and Origin!' So, I went onto Google Chrome and searched: 'origin download' I clicked the first option available and I was taken to the Origin page. It asked me to download it onto my computer, so I did. Then I logged in onto my account and downloaded the Sims 4 and all my expansions, game and stuff packs. I booted up the game and let out a HUGE sigh of relief when I saw all my save files just sitting there, waiting to be played again! From then on I've had a great time playing the Sims 4. I hope this can help you too!
