- These old characters died a long time ago in my game. I'm not playing them again, it won't fit in with my story.

I totally agree! It was so disappointing that there are no memories in the sims 4. Also I feel the sims in ts4 lack personality compared to the sims 2 and 3. a sandbox game is nice but I feel they have taken it too far. I really would like my sims to be more unique in character not just looks. What I do love about the sims 4 is the build aspect. That is what keeps me playing the sims 4 right now and I hope that ts5 will at least keep that quality and even improve on that. - I don't want the old Sims games to be in the same timeline but I would love the option of putting a really expensive old painting in a starter home and classing it as an inheritance or something like that without resulting to cheating.
So, Mortimer Goth's grandson could have like an old dining room set or an old statue which he inherited. He could then have the choice of keeping it or taking a hit in the family aspiration by selling it for the money (if the proper aspirations came back. the ones that took a lifetime to achieve).
One thing I would love back is the little chat things from the old Sims loading screens... you know, like reticulating splines and things like that. I think that would be a bit of a "pop" for long-time players. - Chicklet45368Rising TravelerI think Sims 5 should be the descendants of the original townies with a back story of who they are and how they are related.
- The Sims 2 continued The Sims 1 and I don't remember anyone complaining that it is not how things went in their game haha. I'd like The Sims 5 to continue The Sims 2 storylines or at least just bring them back. I just really want them to be interesting, fleshed-out, to inspire to play, to keep an illusion that sims had lives before the player came not like the latest premades. Every timeline is alternative in a game where player decides, I don't want any alternative timelines to older games again.
I wish Sims games would be done by Sims fans or even geeks. The kind of us who remember premades, their ties, all The Sims 3 hints with Don's time travel, Bella's grave in Lunar Lakes etc. or at least would check them in wiki. It's true that a game can be played without ever seeing premades, but it's also true that 15 years after The Sims 2 people still discuss, write fanfiction, draw art and ask where Bella Goth is. Unfortunately, the devs probably prefer the 'pew-pew' Star Wars over subtle lore of The Sims nowadays haha. - DaWaterRatNew VanguardThis idea of continuing the timeline from a previous version of the sims (be it 2/3 or 4) reminds me of metaplots from Shadowrun and Vampire and similar TTRPG's.
It's a great idea, until you decide to go somewhere that the metaplot doesn't go. Then everything after that is progressively less useful to you until you may as well not buy them at all, because you've diverged from the metaplot so much.
I mean, it's not quite like that, but the idea is still there.
Don't get me wrong, I like lore, and I love backstories. But that's a starting point. After that I like to tell my own stories.
I mean, obviously I'd have to adjust to a new time line whether or not they kept the same timeline, because either it would be a whole new timeline, or else there's a very good chance that the stories I told with Sims 4 won't match up to whatever they choose for Sims 5. I just think it would be "cleaner" if it was a whole new timeline. - RoseOfMontanaNew TravelerI would like to see new characters as well. But, I think it would be fun to take the sims from S2 and S3 make them elders and their grandchildren be the highlight.
- FriendlySimmersNew Travelerif i had a choice i would chose to play the sims5 continuing the sims4 time line with the premades from sims1 sims2 sims3 and sims4

I'd prefer it if Sims 5 occured in a different time and had different storylines from the other Sims games. Keep Sims 2 storylines in Sims 2, and let Sims 5 be something new and unique.
I agree and I would love for them to learn their lessons from the mistakes make in Sims 4 as well as progressing the good things too like Build Mode and CAS. Make it where I don't feel I have to use mods and CC to make the game interesting.
