The Sims game should have the option to make some members in a household NPC. Think about it.

With the option of changing a member of the household to NPC or from NPC would allow the player to focus on the story line of some individuals while then back to the others when the player is ready to focus on them.

yes , but we already have it in the form of roommates. Just take the sim you want and make him homeless. Then ask the sim to be a roomate.

I don't have that option. Is that with the University pack or something?
  • I am a family player, but I do tend to focus on one main sim, so I would like this as an option. I think it could be good fun and less 'work' for me, as long as my sims don't start behaving too out of character. I did consider making my sim's spouse his roommate, but then I read that roommates will automatically find boy/girlfriends and I don't want him to cheat. I usually play with autonomy off, but I will have to try turning it on for my non-selected sims. I am a bit of a control freak though so I'm not sure how this will go!

Yes! I used to simulate my sim being a maid by having her be "hired" by some of the townie sims and rotate her around to different families throughout the week to do the cleaning. I would love if my sims had the option to just be a maid.
  • I would love the option to have members in an NPC household. Maybe some long lost kid of Bella Goth knocking on the door after finding out she is her mom or something equally dramatic. Or have something like the Korean show Heart Signal where I can create a sim and have them move into a home with a bunch of random single NPCs.
  • Anyone know if the devs ever come in here? it would be nice for them to see how the vote is going. Only 82 votes but the percentages look like they'd be the same for 82, 820, 8200 votes and so on...
  • Recently I've had to "kill-off" 3 elder sims in a household of "old age" to make room for new babies and new spouses. It's a relatively new household I made, a trailer-park theme. I would love to have 3 or 4 trailer families on the same lot. But have 1 active at a time, the others on NPC mode, only switch over to another if needed. The main reason I had to "kill" the 3 sims already was because of the 8 household member maximum. Technically those 3 are still there, but as ghosts now. So if ghosts can live on the same lot as an active played household, why not be able to make some household members NPC's?

EDIT: I guess I should re-word that. Ghosts don't 'live' on the lot, they 'exist' their. Since they're technically not alive. :p
  • I personally wouldn't use it, but for players who like the surprises that story progression brings and wouldn't mind having sims in their own households who progress themselves while they focus on just one main sim, I guess it's fine. But, with how..."special"...the AI in this game can be, I foresee only disaster with this feature...
  • I would love that idea, so that my sims can be a Maid, Librarian, Handyman, Yoga Instructor, Massuse, Mailperson, Fitness Trainer, Event Cornator, Holiday Jasmine, Father Winterfest, Vendors & the Alien Abductor.

Yes, the autonomy feature would definitely need some work but it already does. lol I put my toddler in the highchair and went to get food out of the fridge for her but everytime I would go to open the fridge, she would call me and I'd turn around and try to take her out of the highchair. lol Or I've even put her in there and instead of going to get food from her like I wanted, I take her back out of the highchar first. That's just one example of how wonky the autonomy is.

Another example is when I call the family for the meal and then as everyone is gathering, go upstairs and pick up the toddler just to put her back down again before going to eat. I'm like "what the... What am I doing???" Or when the maid is cleaning the house but I insist on doing his job for him because I guess I'm just too impatient to let him do what I'm paying him for. But then again, these are the little annoyances that would make the game interesting if they were actually NPC, I think.

One other problem would be trying to keep them out of the fridge when I'm trying to make dinner for everyone. Maybe a "get out of there, can't you see I'm cooking dinner???" type interaction like my mama used to use on us when we were growing up.
