I mean, we still need to know more. But I get the feeling that this pack can be left up to interpretation. They did mention that the droids change when your Sim returns to "reality". They become remote control robots, or something to that effect. But while in Batuu, they follow your Sim independently. At least, that's what I understand from the current information.
So it seems like when your Sim is on Batuu, what's happening is "real", and immersive, but when they go home, they can have toys and memoirs of the visit. It sounds very much like when you visit a Disney theme park.
And your Sim can stay there on a visit, but they can't live there. So, again, it's very similar to visiting the theme park.
It's a clever way to make the pack. To blur the lines between a Sim's reality and fantasy so the player can interpret it themselves. If that's indeed how it plays. We just need to know more.
