Thermostat Issues

There are a couple of mods that address the issue of the thermostat.

This one is by LittleMsSam where it makes all thermostats automatically adjust to the temperature. In the playable home, your sim will need to pay 699 semolians (only on played lots) all other lots it will automatically turn on and off according to the temperature. This is really nice when it comes to community lots.

Thanks for the info. So without the mods, the thermostat is a waste of simoleans? Plus, I play on console so can't do mods, as far as I know.

It's not a waste, but it does require management. As for modding, it helps to fix some absolutely unnecessary issues, like autoadjustment and sims reaction to them,

What's the point of having the thermostat when it's set to warmer during winter but they still run around in their snowsuits and get the chills when wearing anything less? Is this an issue with my game or is this a universal thing?

@PenguinFoop Sorry you are having trouble. In my game I turn off weather effects on Sims under Seasons settings. That works for me.

This has annoyed me for ages. It's mad having sims wander round in heavy coats, hats and gloves indoors, especially when the windows get all steamed up or frosted over in winter - an effect I otherwise really enjoy. Surely this issue could easily be fixed by defaulting sims to everyday clothes if they are inside a building where the thermostat is turned to warm, even when there is a blizzard outside.

I don't use mods, and I don't want to turn weather effects off since I love the seasons pack. My DIY solution has been to adjust the cold weather outfits I give my sims. All the played ones get at least two. Only one outfit is ever proper outdoor wear. The rest are all some kind of sweater/cardigan-type combo that look OK indoors. For the latter, I turn off the automatic filter and use a lot of non-cold weather category clothes that look warm enough, to create more variety (eg the warmer looking dresses and skirts, worn with tights). This means I can at least manually change to an appropriate outfit depending on whether the sims are in or outdoors. It's not ideal though. They ought to fix this.

When my sims get out of bed, even in cold weather, they stay in their PJs until they need a clothes change. For example if they have to route anywhere outdoors, they will put on cold weather wear. Perhaps the design of your house is an issue and the game considers some rooms as outdoor - this can happen on some builds where they use roof sections as walls (like in A-frame builds) or there's a room with no ceiling. You can usually tell if the lighting is slightly different between rooms (indoor lighting looks different to outdoor lighting).

In my one house, the main section of the main floor has no ceiling to create a balcony affect from upstairs and I have noticed that since the lights don't come on on automatically when in that room (since they're hanging from the ceiling upstairs). So that would make sense except that they don't always change into their winter clothes. And when they go down into the basement lounge, which has a full ceiling, they still change into their winter clothes to go down there. My upstairs has a full ceiling as well. Only the balconies have partial ceilings.
