I can come up with quite a lit of things that were asked for by the player base in general. A lot of the more recent packs give us things we asked for. But rarely in the way we expect or envision.
Nevertheless I do feel the players are being catered to.
Something I want to point out in this regard specifically. And most people will probably overlook this because they're mostly background features:

Looking at the game now, we actually got a few of the things in regards to population management (point 1) and almost everything asked under point 4, story progression.
It doesn't work entirely as I expected, but we did get those things. Which is nice ?
