Times have truly changed, and for us ancient beings (I'm 26 but sometimes I feel ancient), it's really hard to accept change. Quality has been replacement with quickness. It's not a change I'm fond of, but it's the reality we have to live in.
:joy: queue the drama. Honestly 2017 and 2018 have been two amazing years for gamers. With gems all over the place, including brilliant indie titles like Celeste, awe-inspiring projects like Hellblade and RDR2, big budget games a la God of War and amazing jrpgs like Persona 5. We have been so ridiculously spoiled these past years, maybe you should broaden your horizon a bit and look past your frustrations with the sims before making such sweeping generalizations about the current state of games. Sorry but lol :joy:
(And yes I've been gaming for many years, don't worry, probably longer than you - not that that invalidates your opinions in any way, but hey, since that's exactly what some simmers try to accuse those who like TS4 of... ;))
I actually play a lot of games and I keep up with gaming news. For every good AAA game that was released in 2017 and 2018, there have been dozens of broken or disappointing games. Do I need to mention that game released in March 2017 and had the most awful facial animations in recent years? Or what about the game released later that year with pay-to-win microtransactions? Or what about Fallout 76 and the broken state in which was released? What about the looter shooter that was released some days ago and that's already being destroyed by reviewers for the poor state it had at launch? And then there's the disappointing ones, like Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Every year there are some good AAA games, but most of them are released in very poor/unpolished state and you have to wait (and pray) those problems are fixed at some point. The model of games as live services has truly hurt the industry.
I do agree that there are many good indie games, but I wasn't even thinking of indie games in my original comment. It was based on AAA games released by big companies.
