Things noticed in StrangeVille (sort of a rant)

Here is a list of things I've noticed whilst watching play-throughs of the new game pack: Kitchen on the "Old Penelope" lot is unusable, due to the placement of a decorative fruit bowl. So...

    I'm pretty sure I read that this was because they are secretly having money troubles? It appears the emptiness of it was intentional. I don't really see how this impacts the story of Strangerville at all though. Maybe I missed something.
