Things noticed in StrangeVille (sort of a rant)

Here is a list of things I've noticed whilst watching play-throughs of the new game pack:

  • Kitchen on the "Old Penelope" lot is unusable, due to the placement of a decorative fruit bowl.
  • Some of the kitchens use island counters instead of normal benches
  • The houses in the "Shady Acre" neighbourhood are very empty in furnishing; one of the houses has a large empty room.
  • The "Carpophagous Corner" lot is a slightly edited version of the "Streamlet Single" starter house in Willow Creek.
  • The lights in the "StrangerVille Information Center" library are different colours, some are yellow-y and some are white
  • The entrance to the "The ****** Lab" is on the opposing side to the front of the lot.
  • World's un-editable terrain paint does not match up with the front entrance of the "StrangerVille Overlook" house
  • Traits of the "Eclectic Arts" household do not match the aspirations they come with. However, this could be apart of their own backstory. The house they live in, which in my opinion bears a striking resemblance to the real-life "Carson House", only has two bedrooms, despite none of the members of the household having romantic relationships with one another.

However, I have noticed all the homes have toilets, which is an improvement over Del Sol Valley.

What else weird/overlooked have you noticed?

The gaming industry has advanced leaps and bounds beyond what it used to be able to achieve and we have seen tech that is just absolutely amazing. Doesn't mean every game will be amazing. But it certainly also doesn't mean the whole industry has worsened. Change is, and always will be, a part of life. And that's a good thing. Unless you chose to only zoom in on what's negative of course, but that's no way to live.

Okay, let's agree to disagree. I wholeheartedly believe the gaming industry as a whole has worsened since the 2010s with the rise of mobile gaming and games as live services / microtransactions.

@rinre33 Could you please clarify about the gurus addressing our missing plants, or let me know where you saw that? I haven't seen anything else about it and I'd be *thrilled* to have those cacti and Joshua trees. I was super disappointed when I realized they weren't part of the regular build/buy... :( Thanks!

James (TheSimSupply) currently has a let's play with SimGuruRomeo as a guest and they have discussed some of the pack 'issues'. I really like Romeo because he is giving some insight about why some things are the way they are (like the non functional kitchen), and at some point he mentioned he will ask the design/environment team why the plants weren't included. I'm not sure if we'll get an answer though. One of the gurus (don't remember which) also said something similar about checking if we can get the plants in an update or not in one of the threads but sadly I don't remember where that was or who in response to

This house's kitchen is confusing. The whole house is. It has one room with just a desk and nothing else, and a room with a chess table and one bookshelf.

But look at the kitchen. One, the counters don't match the isle, 2 there's a random cabinet in a corner, and 3 it looks as this kitchen was left incomplete, it's as if it has missing counters.

I like the outside of the house and it sits in an awesome part of the world but the inside is just really disappointing not to mention confusing.

If i remember correct those half empty houses were meant to be like that. Empty. Confusing. Strange.
  • there are some things i like and some i don't like about this pack.. i don't like how the buildings are empty or how the infected sims will just walk into your house like they own it..get a drink or watch tv..so now i have to lock the doors when i'm playing in a house in strangerville.. that is the only thing i see that i don't like but i see alot of things i like about it, i love the story line and how you can replay it again later.. i wouldn't say it's my favorite pack.
  • I was annoyed at all of these things, as well. I've since heard that the empty lots might be deliberate as they match up with the story. Other than that, though, this world is really disappointing. Simple mistakes that make kitchens useless are disappointing in a finished game, especially when there's more than one, even if it is easy for me to fix myself. I understand that things get missed, though, and I feel bad criticising. :(
  • A couple of my rich Sims have moved into one of the expensive lots and are filling it with all the spying gear. There is a basement which looks as if it has been hastily evacuated from with documents strewn over the floor of it. I suppose in the storyline the inhabitants could have fled taking all the furniture! ;) :o

I haven't done it with this pack, because I worry about interfering with the storyline but I always save the Vanilla houses in a pack to My Library and download them again unfurnished. I like using all my packs to furnish them again as they only put in Basic and the Pack in question objects in a new pack.
