Things to do on dates

As for things to do on dates - there is a to-do list if you choose the date to be a goaled event. Just find a bench or sofa somewhere and things should progress nicely. You can have dates on your home lot as well where you could set up a nice romantic dinner, for example, dance/listen to some romantic music, see a romantic movie, stargaze together, etc. That's all pretty teen-friendly too.

The date locations/activities I choose depends on what suits the couple. My main couple sometimes just like to have a cosy night in at home. One usually cooks a nice meal for them to eat together, then they might cuddle up to watch a film or dance together, before taking things upstairs to the bedroom. My main sim's partner actually 'surprised' him with a romantic meal at home before proposing to him during a date, which was perfect. When out on dates, they sometimes dine out at restaurants, go for drinks and listen to live music at bars/lounges, view/discuss artefacts at museums, sit together at the park or romantic garden snuggling by the fountain or looking up at the stars/clouds etc. I am a hopeless romantic so I really like to make sure my couples spend quality time together and I would love to see the romance system developed further to include more romance interactions and possibilities for dates.

I almost always send my dates to Rattlesnake Juice in Oasis Springs, because it's easy to get gold. Start talking outside, sit together on a bench out front (avoids distractions from the bar), throw down a couple objects to make them playful or flirty, and in an afternoon I can get through a chunk of the romance aspiration.

Sometimes I send my Sims out for fun, but on my PC (an older model), the loading screens mean I avoid travel as much as possible. Doing a block of five dates in one location is what works for me.

I mostly send sims to the fancier nightclub in Windenburg so they can get through the goals quickly. Then they can go dancing or woohoo or something.

If it's to fulfill an aspiration then I usually do it at home and get it done as quickly as possible. If it's to get to know a sim I take them to a restaurant so they are forced to sit down together and get to know one another. I like to bring a ray gun with my sim so if there is too much interference from other sims I get my sim to freeze them. I also like to freeze any stars that show up and interfere . I have converted many bars into restaurants so I have quite a variety of restaurants to chose from.
I have tried taking them bowling but there is just too much interference from other sims wanting to chat that I end up losing track of my sims date.
I've never went to a museum before and think I will try that next time. I wish there were more romantic interactions available as I find it quite lacking.

@annaliese39 I'm with you on the Hopeless Romantic part. Hopefully the next few packs bring a decent amount of romantic interactions.

On the very rare occasion I send my sims on dates (for aspirations, mostly), I will always pick Myshuno Meadows. I've not seen any other sim there, except around the food stalls and the bar off-lot. Its perfect. A few of my couples got married there too while on the date, or shortly after it ended. Which is the closest I've ever gotten to having a proper wedding. No guests or cake or anything, only the 2 most important sims attending.

I don't normally do the game-generated, goal-oriented dates, so I just have people get together and interact at venues. I like downloading different venues from the gallery to give my sims more options.

I've had my sims go to ice rinks, but only go if the sims already have some skating skill, otherwise it's just an embarrassing amount of tumbles, haha. If it's snowing, they can build a snowpal together. Movie theaters are nice, too, but it's best to just have one theater and no other seating in the lobby so that they're forced to at least sit in the same room. Sometimes I'll temporarily move the sim I'm dating into the household so that I can control them both while they're on the date, and sometimes I'll just do a normal date where I only control my sim.

I try to pick a venue that fits their personality. Like, my sims was dating a down-to-earth guy and a sophisticated guy, so the down-to-earth guy took her to a cafe, and the sophisticated guy took her to a really posh lounge.

If they're ready to make a commitment, I'll send them to Granite Falls for a weekend trip.

As for what I have them do, I just have them do whatever there is to do at the venue, and on top of that, talk, flirt, hold hands, and kiss.

Kind of like the others, the most common dates are restaurants. I also have a venue that is a combined movie theatre, bowling alley and bar with a small arcade in Newcrest. That's a good place to go to not have to worry about the weather. I've also sent sims to The Lost Garden of Healing from Romantic Garden. That's kind of an irreverent date in which they play in the fountains and listen to baroque music. Parks or museums are also common choices.

I do have a lot of community lots. Lately, I've gotten into a little bit of a rut of keeping sims in their houses when they have kids. I added a toddler-oriented park where the parents can flop into the kiddie pool and there are grills. That's a place I can send parents with toddlers.

Recently, I'm making myself work past that tendency and I'm starting to send them out a bit more with their kids. I'm also trying to send them on more varied dates but restaurants work well for that.

I don't do traditional dating in my game because my sims are married but they do make time for date day or date night. They'll go to the spa together, bowling, skating, or dining out. Occasionally they'll go to a bar for karaoke and dancing. Day trips include visits to Sulani for water activities.
