Fun fact for spellcaster players: each cause of curse can give different curses.
Here's a list of curse causes and what curses these can give:
- Overcharging
- Curse of Uncontrollable Charge
- Curse of Infectious Laughter
- Overcharging too many times
- Curse of Uncontrollable Charge
- Curse of the Night Wraith
- Curse of Scrambled Spells
- Drinking too many potions
- Curse of Uncleansable Stench
- Curse of Awkward Embraces
- Too many failed potion making
- Curse of Unwarranted Hostility
- Curse of Repulsiveness
- Curse of Uncleansable Stench
- Too many failed spells
- Curse of Uncontrollable Charge
- Curse of Scrambled Spells
- Too many duels lost
- Hex of the Duelist
- Curse of Unwarranted Hostility
- Curse of Awkward Embraces
- Decurse spell fail
- All curses in-game
- Potion of Curse Cleansing fail or drinking Potion of Questionable Contents
- All curses in-game
Each spellcaster can have up to 3 curses and cannot get the curse they already have. Plus there is Decurse spell and Potion of Curse Cleansing to remove these. Plus becoming a non-spellcaster sim also removes curses.
So yeah, that's the fun fact for today.
Today I think I'll share mold (mould).
So then, did you know that the mold spawning is affected by three things:
- Season and weather
- Moon phase
- If the lot is off-grid
So yeah, remember the following facts:
- Mold spawns less in winters.
- Mold spawns more when it's raining.
- Mold spawns more on new moons and crescent moons.
- Mold spawns less on full moons and gibbous moons.
- Being off-the-grid will make mold spawn a little more.
Toxic mold is more uncommon than allergic mold. There is no way to make them appear more often (though sims affected by it can spread the toxic mold). You can always get it from build mode when bb.showhiddenobjects cheat is activated.

Did you know that frequencies of certain maintenance events (in Residential Rentals and lots with Maintenance Troubles challenge) are affected by lot traits and challenges?
Here's the list:
- Filthy lot challenge: Increases chance for Pool Algae and Sewage Leak events
- Cursed lot challenge: Increases chance for the Cursed Book event
- Spooky lot challenge: Increases chance for the Haunting event
- Off-the-Grid lot challenge: Eliminates Water Leak and Electrical Malfunction events
- Creepy Crawlies lot challenge: Increases chance for Infestation event
- Reduce and Recycle lot challenge: Decreases chance for Trash Overload event
- Great Soil lot trait: Decreases chance for Garden Blight event
- Sunny Aspect lot trait: Decreases chance for Tenant Revolt event
So yeah, and these are only lot traits. These can also be affected by the residents and what objects are there and how much have they been used.
- EgonVM2 years agoSeasoned Ace
I've decided to elaborate on maintenance events...
So, what type of residents cause certain events? Let's take a look!
- Charity event - More with high wealth and good sims.
- Cursed event - More with evil sims
- Haunting event - Less with Paranormal Investigator sims
- Infestation event - More with slob sims
- Maintenance Day event - More with neat and high handiness sims
- Pet Adoption Drive event - More with pet lover sims and sims with no pets.
So yeah, I will say though that I feel like the things based on traits (especially good one in Charity event) might involve more traits. But yeah...
Some tips to avoid certain maintenance events (it won't prevent it most of the time, just reduce the chance):
- Pool Algae - Swim in the pools you have from time to time.
- Garden Blight - Tend the plants there are, do at least some gardening.
- Electrical Malfunction - Keep electrical objects repaired.
- Explosion - Keep explosive (don't know the full list, but stoves are one of them) objects repaired.
- Infestation - Just be ready for it more after a Sewage Leak event.
- Maintenance Day - Keep objects clean and repaired.
- Sewage Leak - Keep the toilet repaired.
- Tenant Revolt - Visit your tenants (will be annoying to do) and keep objects clean and repaired.
- Trash Overload - Empty the trashcans you have.
- Water Leak - Keep plumbing objects repaired.

Secret interaction dug up!
Let's go to Paranormal stuff pack. I've always wondered what this trait is for:
trait_Hidden_ParanormalInvestigator_AskedGrim
And now I know the answer! I'll put it under spoilers!
SpoilerIf your sim has the Paranormal Investigator License and they see Grim Reaper, they have a new interaction unlocked. This interaction is called:
Ask to Join the Soul Reaper Society
When your sim asks this, you'll get one of two responses:
Response 1:
Hah! Sorry kid, no open positions right now, but I like your moxie!
Response 2:
Ah, you remind me of myself when I was your age. Sorry kid, no openings for the foreseeable future.
Afterwards, your sim cannot ask this question again, which is caused by the trait I've mentioned.
So yeah, is this the confirmation that no, Grim Reaper career won't come, or is it a hint that it might come. After all, the stuff pack was released in 2021...
It might have been shared on the Internet before, but still, as I didn't know this myself, I'll share it here!

@EgonVMthe information you shared over the last two weeks is great. So many great insights. I will definitely be looking back if I want my spellcasters to get a specific curse.
A detail I'd like to add:
Did you know that the decursify spell only removes one curse at a time while the potion removes all curses at once. I found this very useful when I want my sim to keep a specific curse for story purposes.

I didn’t know that songs made on the Mix Master Music Station may appear on the radio @simgirl1010 🙂 Thanks for letting us know!

Thank you for all the kind words. I'm happy that it is well received. Going through the tuning files is interesting for me too.
Today I'll share a small fact though.
On knitted gifts, the reaction depends on the gift quality. There is an exception though: gifting a knitted baby onesie to a pregnant sims will always result in a positive reaction.
There are also two special gift reaction that can happen:
- Gifting a sweater to a sim that is in a relationship (either lover or boyfriend/girlfriend, engaged and married sims are safe) will result in a sweater curse for the receiver. This will cause most of sim's romantic interactions to fail for 7 days. This won't happen when one of the sims have Sacred Knitting Knowledge trait. This trait also gives an ability to remove the curse.
- Gifting a knitted Grim Reaper plush to the Grim Reaper will reset your sim's aging bar. This will work only once though as any other times will make the Grim Reaper question your sim's hobby (the relationship will still go up though).
So yeah, that is it for today.

I'll take a fun fact from one of my previous interest threads (Community Closeness from Eco Lifestyle).
If you ever get a call to give an entrepreneur 1,000 Simoleons and give it, they may call you back to ask you for more. At this point, you don't need to give them more money, as saying that your sim can't afford it will keep the chain going. Calling them out will get you 2,000 Simoleons and ends the chain.
If you're patient enough, they'll eventually call you back to say that they got their business going off. You can either take 25,000 Simoleons or 2,500 Simoleons and a relationship gain.
So yeah, on follow-up calls, the only benefit of giving them 1,000 Simoleons more is the relationship gain.
Other than that, you only need to pay 1,000 Simoleons once (to start the chain).

A small fun fact today.
What affects how successful your sim is pleading to Grim Reaper?
Here's the list!
- Having a child plead raised the chance of success.
- Emotional pleads are more successful when your sim is in Very state.
- Having Gloomy trait helps with Sad pleading.
- Potion of Prompt Resurrection fail will make your sim always fail pleading.
- Viewing the the completed Sugar Skull shelf will help.
- Potion of Prompt Resurrection and Grimbucha helps.
- Wearing charged Jet and Hematite also helps.
So yeah, again, having a child in your household can be strategically useful I guess...
- EgonVM2 years agoSeasoned Ace
Ok, I took a look at which sims break which rules more often.
These rules will never be broken by NPC tenants:
- No Ghosts
These rules have the same chance to be broken by every NPC tenant:
- Maximum Occupancy
- No Pets
And now we have three rules left. And these are affected by what's in the unit and who's living there.
- No Social Events: Sims with Family-Oriented, Outgoing, or Party Animal trait(s) are going to break it more.
- No Loud Noises: Sims with Bro, Music Lover, or Party Animal trait(s) are going to break it more. They require a TV or a stereo for this.
- No Trash Overload: Sims with Slob trait are going to break it more.
- EgonVM2 years agoSeasoned Ace
I thought about gifting more info on gift giving.
It turns out that sim's traits can affect the outcome. Well, there are three cases for this:
- Bookworms love books.
- Childish, children, and toddlers love toys.
- Foodie and Glutton sims love food (as long as it's untouched).
- Cheerful and Outgoing sims seem to never dislike a friendly gift from their friend (unless it's a flower or knitted item).
- Romantic sims and sims in Flirty mood seem to never dislike a romantic gift from their lover.
- Materialistic sims seem to never dislike a money gift.
In addition, what value the gifted item is also affects how much reputation your sim gains.
- Medium gain: 2,500+
- Small gain: 500 - 2,499
- Tiny for below 500.
Gifting Romantic gifts may get your sim gifted a rose.

That is a great fact! @simgirl1010 🙂 It is fun to see the response of the skeleton to the joke!
- EgonVM2 years agoSeasoned Ace
@simgirl1010 wrote:Ah, this fun fact with temple and servant skeletons I've discovered years back (April 1st 2021). Unless some other source dated earlier was found, I still can't help but take credit for discovering it (just wouldn't want this fact to be forgotten...).
From the previous post I forgot to mention though that sims with Bro trait can give Bro Gifts, which should never be disliked by Bro sims and give a special moodlet for both the giver and receiver.

Ok. Today I'll take a fun fact from this thread I've made.
Do you want to make a custom professor? Well, good news is that you only need to enter one cheat code.
traits.equip_trait [trait_codename]
There are 8 traits (4 for Britechester, 4 for Foxbury) that when assigned will automatically assign your sim the required Professor trait and career (which, when separately assigned, won't work on their own). It'll also puts the professor into separate categories (A, B, C, and D) so that when your sim takes multiple courses, only one professor from each category gets assigned as the professor of the course.
Here are the cheats to make custom professors:
University of Britechester:
traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_ProfessorNPC_Course_Arts_A traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_ProfessorNPC_Course_Arts_B traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_ProfessorNPC_Course_Arts_C traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_ProfessorNPC_Course_Arts_D
Foxbury Institute:
traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_ProfessorNPC_Course_Science_A traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_ProfessorNPC_Course_Science_B traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_ProfessorNPC_Course_Science_C traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_ProfessorNPC_Course_Science_D
And that's not it for now.
There are 4 types of professors that can appear in Student Commons. These sims require certain traits and certain life stage and it'll affect how they'll act. Here's the list under spoilers:
Spoiler- Good - A social and friendly professor.
- Young adult or older
- Bookworm
- Cheerful
- Geek
- Not Mean
- Not Evil
- Grumpy - Does mean interactions and complains.
- Elder
- Snob
- Mean
- Loner
- Not Cheerful
- Not Goofball
- Hip - Eats, tells jokes, plays computer games, and does comedy stand-ups.
- Young adult
- Bro
- Cheerful
- Goofball
- Smart - Nothing special it seems...
- Young adult or older
- Creative
- Genius
- Perfectionist
So yeah, professor career is a special case within non-location based careers...
- Good - A social and friendly professor.
