Anyone else remembering the dung heap that was the old Bioware forums? Those were some of the worst forums in this regard I have ever seen. Even before the ending of Mass Effect 3 was known a good half of the posts were either pure hatred against Bioware employees or just disgusting in general. Always excused with "But we are ignored, and we are the TRUE / LOYAL fans!"
That's sad. The Dragon Age: Origins forums were pretty good though. I used to hang out there at one time and the people were nice.
What happens in gaming spaces is that sequels please some and don't please others. Some who do not enjoy the sequel(s) move on and do something else. A few remain and stew in that sort of negative space. Then the problems start. That's not to say that it is a gaming problem, but rather a human one. Some people cannot accept loss. Some are not equipped to deal with disappointment. And, yes, some genuinely thrive off of negativity.
