This is disgusting

I've been in many game communities over the years. Everytime it's the same. :( At first the dev talk to the players, then more and more players started the demanding for more things they wish at once and got angry when their wish isn't fullified. The devs then made a fall back and the players came more angrier and started with insults because of no contact. The players didn't even seen that their behaviour was the reason.

I understand if someone is disappointed, but there is no reason for acting like a spoilt kid who doesn't get the chocolate bar. I understand if some bring up critic in a constructive way and I like to read those, but blaming and insulting won't help. My fear is, that even when the devs now considering a farming ep or gp, the now disappointed players will be angry again, because the addon won't be the same as they are imaging. They will be disappointed again.

I'm not on twitter, but I feel pity for these simgurus.

Twitter is a toxic place, I rarely use it. I even forget my login pw, anyway you are right about that. There is just no need to be rude about something someone don't like. While I understand thats an EP maybe nobody really likes.

What would help is if people would be able to calmly state their opinions and feedback on the packs and the game without getting jumped by either SimGurus or other simmers. Some simmers feel a certain kind of way right now, and they have the right to. This 'stop being mean to the devs' culture only breeds toxicity, that's the truth.

Very well-said. I'm a bit concerned that anyone should feel "rage" over any game, so my heart goes out to anyone who is carrying that degree of pain.

It really is that simple, especially at this point in the game's development cycle. It's been six years, and The Sims 4 is what The Sims 4 is. If you didn't like the game, more of that game isn't going to make you like it more. The Sims, The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 continue to exist, and it isn't like The Sims 4 came with a kernel that prohibits anyone from installing and playing any of those games. They'll always be there to play, and if they were The Best (TM) then play them instead of lobbing threats and insults.

But it's different only in degree, not in kind, to Simmers here who make sweeping allegations about development, accuse the developers of laziness, shoddy work, inattention to the community, or indifference to bugs. No one goes into game development for fame and fortune. They are there because they love games, and THIS game particularly, and they really are doing their very best to give us the most entertaining gameplay they can.

Harassment on Twitter etc. is appalling. But the rudeness I see here is also a concern - and it's something we, here, can do something to curtail.

I doubt anyone who doesn't play the sims cares about the 100th dlc for it.

The kind of "gamer" talked about (there as a certain hashtag going around in 2014 that "had to do with fairness in gaming journalism" (translation: personally attack any developer that had an "SJW" agenda such as female protagonists not half naked or having openly gay protagonists as well as quite oplenly trying to force female gaming journalists and female game developers to quit their jobs, often by publishing their IRL addresses on the net and post death threats or "SWAT" them)) very much would post fake reviews or deliberately feed the negative voices about any game he (always a he) has never played if it fits his agenda of anti-progress.

The 2010's was the true Decade of the Geeks and unfortunately it turned out that when we stopped being bullied, a vast amount of us actually turned out to be complete donkey-behinds.
(They are at it again, btw, but now they are going after comic books. There are hundred of youtube videos where self-proclaimed "true comic book fans" proclaim that Marvel and DC will die within a year because they cater to minorities and feminists instead of true, male, fans).

Oh, yeah. I have never been so appalled and shocked by my fellow nerds as I was when that business went down where they attacked that woman game dev back then. What they did to her and other women in the game development field made me so angry. I used to think nerds were very inclusive but that incident opened my eyes to some things. Gatekeeping fandoms is the least offensive attitude of the mentally unbalanced section of the nerdosphere.

Actually very opposite. In real life gamers or nerds are red flags to me unfortunately even though they share the same interest as me, I'm a woman and black so I never felt like I really fit in anywhere.
